Visa Info Needed!

Recommended Posts

I just recently got a Non-Immigrant multiple entry Type O VISA and I have afew questions that some of you guys might be able to help me answer:

1- I dont want to report to the police every 90 days to get my VISA stamped, so is it possible that if I just do a border run every 90 days that I will not have to report to the police? The reason I ask is because I know it is easier and cheaper to just report to the police, but I will be living right near the Mae Sot border, and because I dont have my marrage papers, I think a border run might be easier for me.

2- I plan to leave Australia in 3 months, because I hold a Non Immigrant Typr O VISA, do I need to buy a return ticket to come in to Thailand, or will they still let me in on a One way ticket?

3- How much foreign or Thai cash am I allowed to bring into Thailand with me, and is there a mimmimum ammount I need to bring?

4- What is the best way to get the most out of your cash in Thailand, I mean, bring foreign cash and exchange it there? Use my Australian bank card there? Use a Credit Card? ETC.

5- Do I need a job to be able to open a Thai bank account?

6- Is the Mae Sot border on Myanmar an easy border to do border runs on?

Thanks for you help and any information would be apprieciated! Cheers!

1. You have no option - you must leave every 90 days with a multi entry O visa. There is no such thing as reporting to police for a visa stamp. The only other option is for those married and meeting financial conditions that allow one year extension of stay.

2. It is up to airline but one way should be ok with a visa.

3. As much as you want but if over a certain amount you have to declare it - you need 20,000 baht (currency equivalent) to enter Thailand with a visa.

4. Wire transfer after you set up bank account here - set up agreement before you leave for you home bank. ATM cards vary at to charge imposed by you bank.

5. Job not required for bank passbook savings account.

6. I guess - when it isn't closed.
