Allowing underage drinkers Dave? :D  :D

A bottle of coke :D (with a straw and a bag of crisps) :D

Where is the fun in that? I do have my Dad's permission to drink alcohol you know :D.

Maybe I will take you up on that offer, maybe I won't. And if I do, there will be vodka in that coke I'm drinking :o

Maybe I'm gonna be a kill joy here, but shouldn't a tat mean something? And if it means something shouldn't it be displayed in such a way, or not at all? For ones tat is for them, yes? Never for other people, right? Because if it's to showoff, of what value is the work?

Blood is drawn for the message the work leaves behind. There is nothing worse than a person who draws blood needlessly.

I hear you. My "Only God can judge me" tattoo will mean alot to me. I'm a christian and personally God means everything to me, so I wanted to get a tattoo with a phrase out of the bible that means something to me and that phrase does.

My other tattoo is just something that I wanted to get for the sake of it looking nice but I'm sure there are other people out there that have tattoos done for that reason.

And I think it's sometimes good to show off your tattoos and say "This is me." after all having a tattoo that means something to you would be worthless if nobody could see it but you, if that was the case then why the tattoo? Because you could of just left the meaning inside your head and not shed any blood.

And you want it in Thai?

My other tattoo is just something that I wanted to get for the sake of it looking nice but I'm sure there are other people out there that have tattoos done for that reason.

My post was saying that I don't think tattoos should be fashion. Nothing worse than flash art (it's not art).

And I think it's sometimes good to show off your tattoos and say "This is me." after all having a tattoo that means something to you would be worthless if nobody could see it but you, if that was the case then why the tattoo? Because you could of just left the meaning inside your head and not shed any blood.

Worthless if nobody could see it? So, than the value of this very personnal work is based on others that see it? Yet, you said that you wanted to put one of your tats in a place that would allow you to hide it. So, I guess, you would be able to be "fashionable" with or with the tattoo? If God means that much to you that you will draw blood, why hide it? Why do you need to tell others "this is me"? Do you seek their approval, their acceptance? By tattooing yourself you become a walking billbroad for your inner thoughts. People will judge whether you like it or not. Can you live with such judgements, since you need to tell them "this is me"?

The meaning comes from the act. Do not cheapen the act by vandalizing your flesh.

... she's a real beauty ... a Mexican Cutie ... how she got there I haven't a clue ...

(Jimmy Buffet),

OK, Tats can be cool, but fast forward to when your 70 with a barb wire tattoo around your arm, a butterfly over your cro..

Fads come and go, there's a reason models make millions with their clear unblemished skin ...

Hello Ice Maiden,

On a lighter note,i reckon "Only God can Judge me" would be a cracking tattoo as long as it is sonething you won't grow out of.Being a religious thing i'm sure you will not grow tired of it.As long as you have thought long and hard about it,it is a personal thing and some will say go for it and some will say don't do it.

Good luck anyway,Martin

That's why it needs to be something that you can live with forever. Something more than a butterfly or barbed wire, something that will still make sense when you're old. No one looks funny at the 85yr old man with the symbol of the unit he served in during WW II.

Each to thier own. some people love them some don't...who are we to judge. :o

I love them, but I can't stand the people who get the nud_e devil lady on their chest, or the nud_e pixie sitting on a shroom. It gives the art a bad name. Not to mention other people with tattoos.

I concur. I served in the Royal Navy for 7 years, where as you can imagine, Tattoo's are rife. However, i didn't have one but i didn't mind the people who did.

I agree.

I wanted it in thai because I believe that phrase can be in any language and God would still understand. And I thought about my future, so I thought I should get a tattoo in a place that I can hide if I go to a job interview for example. And also have the flexibility to show it if I choose to.

Yes I can live with judgements, people judge all the time. Their judgements don't matter to me because I will always know God only has the power to judge me but the phrase means alot to me in other aspects too.

Mark Morrison, yeah I know him man; he was that lead singer of the Doors also known as the Lizard King. Yeah I can dig that dude. Don't think he was into organized crime though. He did drink a lot and chicks worshipped him. He did not have any tattoos though. BTW, why would anyone get a tattoo anyway? that don't make no sense. The thing about tattoos is that they really look super hideous especially on chicks. Why would a nice young girl want to taint nice smooth beautiful skin? What really makes getting them ludicrous is that you can't take them off. I'm befuddled by the whole tattoo concept

You are also befuddled by music history. Lead singer for The Doors was Jim Morrison.

Sorry, I just don't get tattoos.

If you like a design, why put it on a part of your body whereby the only way you can see it is by using two mirrors and contorting yourself?

Why not hang the design on the wall?

If it's not for you, but for onlookers, what's the point?

Does it make a statement about yourself? No, not really.

I agree with the poster that said tattoos looked cool when they weren't so common. Now everybody and his dog has one, they just make you look like you're following the crowd.

Tattoos eventually fade with age. A fifty year old woman with faded tattoos is going to look naff.

Have many friends with tattoos, most (not all) regret having them done.

IM, I would only suggest NOT getting the tattoo on your stomach. Think of far in the future when you want to have kids, it's going to get all stretched out of place & look totally crap, get it somewhere that wont sag with age, like on the back. I have 3 tattoos, all in discreet places & that wont go out of shape when I have kids or get older. Apart from that, do what you want, your body, your feeling & your consequence :o

Boo backs sag with age as well....eventually everything goes South :D

well, is more the back of the shoulder more than the back, but they don't sag as much as a belly after a kid or two, thats for sure :o

glad to be of service :D, hubby is tattooist & I have seen what a pregnant belly can do to a stomach tattoo & how hard it is, if possible at all, to fix :o

When I was about 20 I decided I wanted to have a tattoo. Because I wanted to make shure that i REALLY liked it, even in the long term, I forced myself to hang on to the design that I liked for more than 6 months. If I would still love it after that, I would get it. Now i am 32 and I still don't have a tattoo. Probably will never get one either. If I want to look good, it's better to work out a bit, instead of getting a tattoo. I've also passed the age that I need to "express" myself in such a nowadays common way.

I'm going to get a tattoo done. Does anyone know of any good tattooists that you recomend? I'm thinking about getting some thai writing on my lower stomach. I recently had to get the one on the bottom of my back re-done because the tattooist wasn't very good and I don't really want to go through that again.

Oh and I've been told the lower stomach is very painful...Is it?

Did you get that Tat in the end?

My sister is coming here in December and I'll be expected to tell her where she can get aone done!
