You have a 30 day entry without visa currently and that can be extended for 10 days at an immigration office for 1,900 baht.

You can cross the border, enter other country, exit other country and receive a new 30 day entry stamp upon your return. You should also have 10k baht to show if asked.

You could travel to another country with a Royal Thai Consulate and obtain a tourist visa that would allow a 60 day stay that could then be extended for another 30 days. You can not do that at a land crossing into Myanmar.

Hi Maya, it is the norm to get a month visas at the burmese border/chiangrai. It will cost you 250 baht which you pay to the burmese immigration. The thai side is foc. If you need to find out about the northern culture and food, do consider for a village homestay with a local family.

Hi Maya,

If you wish to apply for a long tourist visa from Myanmar (2 months + 1 month extension in Thailand) you must do that in Yangon. You cannot get there overland, you have to fly in.

So your simplest option is to cross in and out of Myanmar and get a new 30 days tourist visa.

Behatzlaha! :o
