dam_n that nobody there had a mobile with cam. No BB or iPhones with FB apps in Thong Lor ? Maybe everybody was busy with taking pics from all this other celebrities and millionaires for there "Social Network". Can happen in a crowded restaurant in Bangkok ... 555

Nice try but what a bad PR for this place. They even not let Mark in .... so for sure i will not go there even if the world famous 'Room 39 band' is playing... Come on Mark if they don't let you in -> just buy the band, the restaurant, J Avenue or better whole Thong Lor. q:o)

COme on guys..... If he really want to listen at this group or drink in that bar......He just can buy them both...... That's it.... na krap .

He's a low key guy who doesn't take himself too seriously. Wouldn't surprise me if he were spotted at Cheap Charlies having a drink with friends.

Leave the guy alone.

He's not a douche bag so he wouldn't do that. Notice how he never pushed to get seats even after they knew who he was.

I did, I noticed you passed out on the floor of the bar and that girl going through your pockets but you probably don't remember that :D

I think it's funny that they didn't have space for him - even after they "confirmed" his identity. Maybe it's part of a crackdown on billionaires.

He wasn't part of the 'hub' of activity.

Saw this on another forum:

If enough Facebook management were to move here or visit Thailand, would the claim then be forthcoming, that Thailand is the new 'Hub of Facebook' ? Hopefully Mark might get better tweet-ment on his next visit !

Congrats to the happy couple, anyway ! :jap:

Not a bar girl, I'm guessing. Just sayin' ...

probably met her on facebook? Or more likely supported TV sponsor rent-a-thai-wife . At least her family's village is going to get a big makeover soon....

Visra Vichit-Vadakan is how the bride's name is spelled. Considering how many IT clerks are in Thai Visa, I'm surprised that no one knows of her father Vivatvong Vichit-Vadakan. He is chief open-source technologist at Loxley Business Information Technology-PointAsia. I do not think his daughter had to work as a bargirl. She is a graduate of Stanford with a BSc. and an MSc. in computer science.

How many Thai Visa members have the intelligence or the academic record to have been accepted to Stanford let alone graduate with a diploma? She met her husband approx. 10 years ago when they were both Stanford students. She worked for the Thai Ministry of education after she graduated. Hey look at that, she was qualified to work in education. How many foreign teachers in Thailand can say that? She's now studying for another masters degree, an MFA at the Tisch School of Fine Arts in NYC. Again, a place that many knuckle draggers making cheap comments about her would never qualify for admission to. Oh and by the way, the wedding was held at Major General Kukrit Pramoj's place.

She's also been in well regarded film festival that features the support of some of world's film stars like DeNiro and Pacino. http://www.tiburonfilmfestival.com/contactInfo.php?contact_id=12840

She's the type of girl that most Thai Visa members haven't a shot of ever dating let alone meeting.

-Edited for spelling

She lives in the USA, where she supports herself by working. She doesn't live on a government pension or profits from running a shady business in Thailand. She's the type of girl that most Thai Visa members haven't a shot of ever dating let alone meeting.

Exactly. Us included. :D

Facebook VP C. Cox marrying a Thai woman? Sounds like that will turn out to be a great story for another film.

Yes that`s true.

The last I heard the guy gave his new wife`s family Bangkok as a sin sot. Oh, and half of Chiang Rai, I think.

A classic tale of divorce and deceit coming your way soon at cinemas near you.

I've never really understood it as well.

Never used it, but apparently you post up all your personal information and embarrassing photos of yourself from eg office parties etc for complete strangers to look at and possibly use against you at a later date. dunnoh.gif

Zuckerberg impressed with Thai culture

The Nation

Mark Zuckerberg, Facebook's co-founder, was impressed with the Thai culture he experienced at the wedding ceremony this week of his close friend Chris Cox, the vice president of Facebook.

Vivatvong Vichit-Vadakan, the father of Cox's bride Visra Vichit-Vadakan, said Zuckerberg had taken part in all three days of his daughter's wedding and was impressed with the culture he had experienced throughout the proceedings.

"He is a very nice, humble person. We chatted. I thanked him for taking part in my daughter's wedding in Bangkok for three days. We didn't talk about business, or even about Facebook or social networking in Thailand, as he had come for the wedding ceremony and was here in a private capacity," said Vivatvong, who is chief open-source technologist at Loxley Business Information Technology-PointAsia.

He said Zuckerberg had seen a lot of Thai culture during his stay, as his family had arranged a full traditional Thai-style wedding ceremony for 40 of Cox's friends who had come over from the United States.

Cox joined Facebook four years ago. "Mark joined the merit-making ritual as part of the wedding

ceremony on Monday, and then

he also joined the engagement

ceremony yesterday [Tuesday]. These two activities were at the bride's home in Sukhumvit Soi 24. And we had the wedding ceremony yesterday morning at the house of General MR Kukrit Pramoj," said Vivatvong.

He added that his daughter had been friends with Cox since 2000, when they were freshmen at Stanford University. Cox was studying symbolic systems while Visra was studying human biology, but they were both in the university's Traditional Japanese Drum Club, which is where they met.

Their relationship continued in the ensuing years and blossomed into that of lovers three years ago, he said.

After graduation, Cox pursued a master's in computer science at the same university, while Visra came back to Thailand, working for TK Park during the time that Sirikorn Maneerin was deputy education minister. She is now a second-year graduate student of the Film School at New York University and expects to earn her master's degree next year.

Vivatvong said Zuckerberg would not be staying in the Kingdom to celebrate the New Year.

"He is a very nice and humble guy. He is not as he is portrayed in the movie 'The Social Network'," he said.

Zuckerberg, dressed in grey T-shirt and jeans, arrived at last night's party venue - a restaurant on Sukhumvit 36 - at about 8pm in a van and accompanied by security guards. Journalists took photographs but he did not respond to any of their questions.
