THE NARATHIWAT GOVERNOR WILL SEND A LONGAN CARAVAN TO CHONBURI

The Narathiwat governor is preparing to lead the province's longan caravan to open a market in his home province of Chon Buri.

Narathiwat Governor Pracha Taerat (ประชา เตรัตน์) said this will be the first proactive market-breaching hosted by the provincial administration. The caravan will put the Narathiwat longan products on sale during August 27th and 28th (this weekend), at The Tine Hotel (โรงแรมเดอะไทน์), in Bangsaen (บางแสน), Chon Buri.

The caravan has been arranged in order to accommodate the government's southern policy and to address the problem of illegitimate claims of the province's name by longan sellers, who sell longans from other provinces at cheaper prices. It is also aimed at creating confidence for buyers, and to guarantee the product’s quality and differing tastes. This will, according to the governor, also help the longan market to expand.

Mr. Pracha said that if good feedback was received, he will arrange for the caravan to visit more provinces. He said this should help solve the problem of low prices for longan products.
