I am looking at ways to get internet access on my laptop around Bangkok and Thailand.

If I had an iphone with 3g access as part of the service from the telco. could I then put that sim card into a USB air card type device so I could access the 3g/internet on the laptop?

Are there better/other ways to get access to the internet wirelessly on my laptop?

Thanks.

There are a number of provider who are offer 3G Sim cards for 100Bht that give 2Gb of data over 30days or 790 Baht for Unlimited data for 30days. These Providers are all using TOT 3G only works in Bangkok I believe.

You don't need an aircard. Your Iphone IS an aircard. All you do is plug the phone into the laptop, or connect through bluetooth and you can access the net through your phone. All you need is an appropriate sim card with a data package that suits your usage. True are good and certainly very knowledgable on Iphones. I took a friend into True last month who wanted to use his iphone for internet on his laptop and they configured everything and connected him on the spot. Saved him from having to buy an aircard and use two Sim cards.

I think the best place now for a good selection of 3G packages from different providers, and for a great selection of 3G dongles is a shop named "Program". It's on the third floor of Fortune, near the top of the escalators, sort of across from True.

I have the True 3G package for my iphone3. My intention is eventually to get a tablet the Motorola Xoom looks to be the favourite when it becomes available. So my question is will I be able to use the iphone in the same way to connect the tablet to the internet or will I have to swop the SIM every time I want to use it or will I need another connection package for the tablet?
