"Referee Steve Smoger of the United States, center, raises the arm of Thailand's Poonsawat Kratingdaenggym and declares him the winner as a dejected Ricardo Cordoba of Panama, left, looks on after their bout for vacant WBA bantamweight title in Bangkok, Thailand, Wednesday, Aug. 31, 2005. Poonsawat took the crown from this victory after winning a tough, gruelling fight on points."

This is great for the boxing community here in Thailand. Panamanians are tough fighters (like Roberto Duran) as are Cubans and Mexicans. Some of these guys seem to be unstoppable in the ring and will absorb just about anything. If we can get a few Thai fighters to fight in the States regularly (like Yodsanan) we'll be in good hands. Many of the Western stylists here started off with Muay Thai before making the change to boxing. Khaosai Galaxy is an example.
