Living In Patong

Featured Replies

Hi. So me and a friend are interested in living in phuket for 3 months from november till february. We wanted to do the whole sell tickets for clubs and promotion. We want an apartment to share in patong with air condition and furnished. What sort of price would we be looking at paying? any information on what we should do and Visa's etc would be greatly appreciated.

Thailand is not the same as Spain.

You would need a work permit and there are a lot of Thai girls who do the job a lot better for less money.

entire banlga crawling with falangs people who sell tickets to Fame Nightclub! workpermit? pfftt....:whistling:

Theres a police 'arrangement'..

All the clubs now doing it.. Started with Lime and Rock city.. But back then (now no idea) the pay was terrible.. It was basically worse conditions and type of people than they 'er mate.. wanna scratch card' time share scum.

Not just there, looks like farang are working at all of the clubs / bars owned by seduction, touting outside and serving at the bars, theres loads of them. Also a couple of smaller bars just off Bangla have a few farang touts and last week I even saw a fit blonde girl working alongside some equally fit Thai girls at a new bar complex on san sabi pulling in the punters. Makes me laugh when I see the police walking down the street closing everywhere early to "up hold the law"

Don't come to Patong.

You cannot afford to live in Patong.

You won't make enough money to cover your visits to the STI clinic or to pay for the meds you'll need.

u say u want vist nov-feb but post this end of Jan??

Your better of going to work in a bar in Cambodia where u dont need a WP

might make enough for eating

First, don't live in Patong. You'll find much better deals living in any of the adjoining beach communities like Kamala or Karon . You can find small houses and apartments for rent online for between 5000 and 25,000 BHT/Mo.You will want to rent a motorbike, to get around, or you will become victims of the Tuk Tuks and taxi's, price gouging. Don't drink and drive (Well mabey a little)Make sure you wear a helmet on BOTH heads, all the time.

As far as making money, hire yourselves out as European giggillo's. That worked for me.

hi

a bit of friendly advice.. by all means come to Patong... everyone says you cannot do this or that.. and blah blah blah blah..

basically you can do what you want... simple as that...

law is non existent here..

thats a fact.. dont listen to these old timers on here..

all the best, and life is for living...

hundreds of foreigners jailed each year for drunk driving, the bounus is you get your name on a public internett list until you are sentenced

some deported for stealing a towel from hotel

working without a work permit often ends up in Immigrations jail, enjoy the Burmese company until you have appeared in court and posted a few hundred k baht bail

suggest you listen to the experienced long timers :)

but I agree, in Thailand you can do as you want, as long as you are a good guy :D

Basically, the Thai's want you to spend your money here - not earn your money here.

In general, you can do what you want here if you have the cash to buy your way through it and/or out of it.

I would suggest you work hard in your own country for 6 months, save your cash, and live here for 6 months. Live in Thailand on a seasonal basis, and in reasonable comfort, using your pounds/dollars/euros.

Club promotion, time share touting etc comes with it's risks for not as much financial reward as working back home.

The OP hasn't been back on the forum to check this advice since he joined and made his only post.

Looking at the picture on his profile I doubt he even remembers it.

hahahaha...spot on. Sad thing is that most of the info on the matter is given by people who didn't even went to Patong within a year and not only that they give off topic answers, but they don't even know what's happening in Patong, no wonder he didn't even replied. Work permits for the farang ticket runners??? You gotta be kidding me...

They need a WP

The fact that most people get away with not having 1 is a complete different thing.

At least the OP now nows the rules and can decide for himself what to do.
