One of my bedroom feels so humid when the compressor shuts off but cools nicely when its on.

Is the btu sizing too big for the room? Or is the ac outdated? What are some possibilities?

Its an older model Daiken from at least 10-12 years ago.

Not sure how I can tell what BTU it is as the sticker was removed.

Yep, it's probably oversiezed A/C for the room. I think your choices are:

1 Set it colder so it cycles longer (not what I would do though).

2. If you can open the bedroom door and let the A/C cool other rooms (hopefully not exposed), that would help.

3. Get a proper sized unit. Probably less than 17K baht.

Have it's charged checked to see if it's at full charge or short cycling because the pressures too low.. If it's low then it has a leak as the gas is contained and can not escape into the atmosphere so should not dissipate if all is in order.

A unit that age is likely to have a pin hole leak in the evaporator as it works under the worst possible conditions of high pressure and corrosive environment and the metal is not that thick..

To rule out (or not) the oversized unit you should be able to check the BTU's on the nameplate (may be just a sticker) of the compressor. Mine for example does not list the BTU's to be easily seen but the model number is MU-SGB13VD.... 13,000BTU's.

Another thing it might be is you're sensing the higher humidity of the warm outside air replacing the room's cool/dry air via an adjacent unconditioned room or the exterior. Thai house doors & windows are typically very leaky, and even the usual brick/block & plaster are permeable to air infiltration.

Then there's vapor pressure... soon as you turn off the dehumidifier - the A/C - mother nature steps in. Just picture every square meter of your exterior walls & every lineal meter of door/window crack as aerosol spray cans as the vapor pressure gradient outside-to-in seeks equilibrium... take heart, i hear its good for the geckos.
