Here’s the list of most recently added vacancies on Mr. Roomfinder over the past few days. There are 2 studios, 2 one bedroom, and one 2 bedroom, ranging from 7-20,000 THB/Month.

It may be worth pointing out that quite a few landlords describe their apartments as 1 bedroom when in fact they are studios. Sometimes you can tell by the size as it would be difficult to have a separate bedroom in an apartment of just 24 SQM for example.

Others are not so obvious as some places may squeeze a tiny bedroom into a moderate space. It’s always a good idea to check that a one bedroom is not a studio before dashing off to view.

Anyway, here’s the list. Simply click the links if you like the sound of any of them.

Drew,

I have spent a lot of time looking for places on your website and have one major complaint, the lack of photos. It should be A MUST for these people to post photos of their apartments/properties. Most of the time I can deduce that I dont want to live at a place because I can see from the photos that it is a dump. Im finding myself wasting lots of time venturing over to view apartments only to be highly disapointed when pictures could have saved my a trip. Granted I can email them and ask for photos, but then I have to wait and chances are I wont be interested anyways.

I know the website is fairly new but this is something I think you should consider for the future. Other then that I think the website is a very good tool for the community.

Best Regard

Hi PF,

I couldn't agree with you more. And even when some landlords do post the pics they are quite substandard at times. Mind you, even this is better than no photos at all.

Unfortunately, there is nothing I can physically do to make people upload pictures with their ads. If it was made compulsory we'd be cutting off our own nose to spite our face, as I believe those without digital cameras, or the knowledge to use them, would probably just not bother to add their vacancies at all, especially at the lower end of the market.

It's better to have real locations, names, addresses, contacts, and a reasonable description of a place than nothing at all.

Many folk look in the Bangkok post classified ads for apartments and they just get a brief description and a contact number so I think we're ahead of them on that one.

At one point I even thought of hiring a photographer with a motorcycle who's sole purpose would be to travel around and take a standard set of exterior, interior, facility and amenities shots of those 'apartment buildings' in our database without pictures. I thought again about how costly, and time consuming this would be and decided to put it on the back burner for the time being.

For the record, there is a reminder on the 'Add Apartment page' that informs the landlords submitting their properties that ads with pictures get many more viewings.

When we have a substantial number of properties in the database with pictures, we'll add a search filter so that users can chose to view only apartments with pictures if they wish to. Presently there are just not enough entries with pics to justify it. As you point out, this is a new site.

Hope the above makes a bit of sense PF.

If anyone has any additional comments or suggestions on the above please let me know.

Cheers

Aitch
