National Database System For Thais With Thai Id Cards?

Featured Replies

I recently read a current non-fiction book set in Thailand that refers a few times to a computer database system that exists in Thailand where you can find the last stated address of any Thai with an ID card. I assume if this really exists it is something the police and perhaps other government agencies have access to. So here's my question. Supposing you are looking for a Thai person you have lost contact with and you want to access that database to find the last known address (and also perhaps if the person is still living). Is there a reasonable cost way to do that? Now I know high cost private investigators exist that are waiting to take our money and do detailed tracking jobs. I am not asking about that, I am asking about punching in one unusual Thai name and getting the last address from the ID card. Yes, it is me interested in this service, but I reckon there are others that would be interested in access to this database if it is somehow possible.

PI route is not that expensive. If you really want to find out about someone. If I recall it several thousand Baht. I think they pay tea money and access the official records. PM me if you want the name of the people I used.

There is nothing like the 192 dot com service in the UK.

My desire to find this person is not strong enough to spend several thousand baht, but thanks for the reply anyway. Based on what you said, I guess if you are friendly with a cop of some kind, you could punch a name in that way ...

There is a national database that's accessible over the web. A bf of mine logged in and showed me all his details. That's all I know about it as it was all in Thai. You'll need to speak to a Thai to get any more info I think.

You can try down at your local amphur office, some will help out, others no. I've had about 50-50 success at my amphur. Biggest problem is transliteration of the Thai name. Normally I'd get a name in English, they'd try several combinations in Thai, sometimes successful, sometimes not. It's a real problem when a name goes from Thai to English then back to Thai.
