Yesterday night, a very drunk lady (wife of a foreigner) speeds trough Doi Saket at 1am, looses control over her vehicle and in the middle of town she crashes right into a concrete road sign pole and 5 meter furteron she destroys the steel counter of a noodle shop. Just this night the noodle shop was closed, otherwise people would have been killed or badly injured for sure. In Europe her car would be classified as 'total loss'.

Police comes, lady gets no fine for drunk driving, but instead, the police officer advises her to lie to the insurance that she 'tried to avoid hitting a dog', in stead of mentioning she was drunk, because then the insurance would not pay out.

The police is your best friend !

or: how they think they ever gonna develop and educate themselves...

It's bad... but somehow also a sign that Thailand us still Thailand and not an Asian version of Sweden. If it ever becomes one, I (hope I) will have moved on.
