DPM PHINIJ HAS SAID THAT CONTINUOUS RAINFALL WILL HELP ALLEVIATE THE WATER SHORTAGE CRISIS

The Deputy Prime Minister, Mr. PHINIJ JARUSOMBAT (พินิจ จารุสมบัติ), is sure that continuous rainfall in the eastern region will be able to alleviate the water shortage crisis in the area.

Deputy Prime Minister PHINIJ, who has also been assigned to look over water issues, said the tropical depression has improved the water shortage crisis situation in the eastern region of Thailand. Water levels in many reservoirs have increased, and thus, water issues have been solved to a certain extent. Nevertheless, he has instructed concerned officials to store flood waters for future usage. He said the quantity of water is still not enough to supply the industrial sector, as it has increased its demand by 20 percent.

Mr. PHINIJ said only a few areas in the eastern region have been affected by floods. Thus, he stated that the provincial governors have to seek solutions to overcome this problem, such as excavating water-distribution canals.
