I think people that concern themselves with how other people choose to dress, swim mainly in the shallow end of human experience.

At least we're not out of our depth

SC

with tempatures of 25°C | 15°C and with hell of a breeze up here in issan....to cold for shorts today rolleyes.gif

Shorts are great. Why be uncomfortable in a warm to hot climate. If you're wearing board shorts & it starts raining ...they dry in 10 minutes after the rain. And they don't look stuffy. Most of the time I prefer not to wear a shirt. Unless I am in a public place. Why not be comfortable in your retirement phase or at any time unless you have to impress the boss.

wearing shorts is fine, but i wouldn't be caught dead in board shorts unless i were wakeboarding or at the beach or pool.

i think people pretending their bathing suits are shorts look like tits.

It would certainly have to be a locational thing though, surely. In the parts I am from, EVERYONE wears boardshorts, all the time. A close mate, whos a solicitor & whos office is just yards from the beach actually somedays wears boardshorts with his shirt, tie & suit jacket & has his secretary escort clients in. He also has a backdoor to the office and a cupboard full of boards laugh.gif. I've dropped by to see him a few times & as I approach the front counter of his office his secretary says, "You know where to find him" & I head straight thru his office and out the back door, stopping briefly to obtain a plank and paddle out to where all the business is done wink.gif

I have never worn boardshorts in Bkk.

More and more Thais are wearing shorts, so I guess it's not the big deal it used to be.

I'm not talking about ladies. They have their own reasons to show their legs, nothing to do do about the sun. :)

Cant you think of a better question than this?

To run with the pack. Shorts, Tshirt 95% of the time, jeans, Tshirt/shirt the other 5%

Well they weren't shorts when I bought them, but you know how things shrink in the laundry...

Besides, you've got to give the mosquitoes SOME place to dine.

I wear shorts to hide my underwear.

I don't wear underwear. That is why I can't wear short shorts. I once did and my friend and his wife were sitting across from me in a songtow and they noticed parts of me hanging in full view. I was told about it later and we all had a laugh. I've not worn those shorts since that time.

As a teacher, I like to believe that there is no such thing as a stupid question, but................there are exceptions!

I have not seen a lot of people wearing parkas either, wonder why??

This is the most idiotic question I have seen on here so far.

I'm not talking about the 2-4 weeks tourists, but about long time expats who are wearing shorts an short sleeve shirts.

Why do they do this?

Hi,

I have seen alot of things asked on Thai Visa, but this is the stupidest question I have ever seen.

FD :)

Do you ever leave your room /house ?

Is there a reason you are personally attacking the poster. He answered your question in his own way. Did he catch you off guard??

As to me: Why not? It ios my choice and preferable for comfort etc. When you go around in your skin tight skivvies / spandex that reach to your ankles

I will laugh at you whenever I see you. If you want to laugh at me because I wear shorts so be it. They dont flatter my physique and neither does your apparel.

This is the most idiotic question I have seen on here so far.

Hang around a while :whistling:

The only times I wear a top and long trousers is when I visit a supermarket, or my bank, as both turn their aircon too high. The other time is at night if the mossies are being hyperactive.

I was born in Germany with shnow on the roof where we had broken tiles and since this time i am looking for warm climates.

To live in Thailand give me the opportunity to wear shorts and outside my Home also T-shirts. Only, while riding my Bike i am dressed with JeansBoots Helmet and Jacket for my own safety.

And for offical receptions i wear long trousers but short sleeve shirts .

This is a confortable feeling which i do not want to miss for the rest of my live.

And I'm not Thai so I don't feel the slightest bit of pressure to dress like them.

Exactly

No such thing as a stupid question...just stupid people..

R u serious?

I have lived over 20 years in phuket and except for the short time i have worked for someone else i have Always worn shorts.

I might ask why would you wear long, hot jeans and or a suit unless ur at work?

I have to say I agree with Fatdog. I wear trousers to work and the minute I get home I change into a pair of shorts. Any time outside working hours I wear shorts. Why would I want to wear clothing that is hot and uncomfortable through choice?

When I first moved here 27 years ago, only male school children wore shorts...

Times have changed, even I wear them :)

Can't we have a little levity in a light hearted topic? I doubt if the OP was too serious.

Obviously not, according to some of the posters. :(

Oh, I think I've seen worse, but a more serious question would be, why would anyone wear Speedos anywhere, ever.

Oh that's easy: when out diving. It saves a lot of hassle when changing from clothes to wetsuit and back. But to me they're nothing more than faster drying underwear. Would never ever wear them at the pool or on the beach (the very few times I go there).

I love to wear jeans and shoes at times. Always wear them in the city and sometimes at night when going out, especially in the cold season.
