Featured Replies

Hi,

I wanted to know Thai language school just for reading and writing

either near silom/siam area or near Ramkhamheng/bangkapi area?

How about AUA school? is it good? I prefer larger school, not those

smaller place in sukhumvit or advertised in Bkkpost.

Thanks

I know you said, you are looking for a school that is only reading and writing but I don't know of any that start out that way, with the possible exception of a full-on Uni program at somewhere like Chula.

Also on Sukuvit, altho you prefer elsewhere and prefer larger schools, there are schools like Unity and Union. You must to go through level 1 and 2, one month programs each before you get into level 3 unless you can already speak basic Thai ok. They will test you. There is another school called TLA on Silom road, near the McDonalds near Pat Pong. All 3 of these schools have basically the same material as they all split off from each other. They are however serious teaching schools. Level 3 teachs you the letters and vowels, level 4 teaches you the rest of the rules for tones etc. After that, Level 5 and 6 and electives like Social Problems, reading newspapers, Thai culture are all in Thai script. All the teaching is in the Thai language. These schools will teach you Thai, they are really difficult (unless you happen to be gifted), but after a number of months of study, you'll be able to read at say 30% the speed at which you read your native tongue.....give or take.

AUA is just listening for the first many months, not familiar with their read/writing program but I believe they have one.

Good luck

Since you have access to the internet, why not try to teach yourself.

Try writing the alphabet first starting with the consonants. Then the vowels.

I would take one letter of the Thai alphabet and fill one side of a sheet of paper with it. Each time I write it I would say the name. By the time you reach the end of the Thai alphabet, you should be able to recognize the names and sound of the letter.

I don't consider myself very smart, but this worked technique worked for me.

Other than hard work and studying, I don't think there is any out of body Matrix expierence that will download the information to your brain very quick.

Can you speak Thai now? If so, you have different options from a complete novice.
