hey,

i want to mail for a tourist visa tomorrow, not sure which direction will get me the visa without 'do-over.'

different consulates have different general requirements to obtain thai visa. washington dc only requires a travel itinerary, but says i have to use consulate of jurisdiction (in my case, los angeles).

los angeles general requirements will not accept a travel itinerary, they want a copy of actual flight ticket. my challenge with that is that i will be ready to travel as soon as i get the visa, but not sure how long it will take (washington says one week, los angeles says two)

geez, how particular are they anyway with following their particular set of rules? iow, use washington and hope they don't notice that i live in alaska or use los angeles and hope they don't notice i have only included an itinerary?!

have looked into using houston, as i have read here in the forum that it is an easy turn around, however, web research indicates that houston is not doing visas. anyway, i cannot find an appl to download with houston address imprinted, so don't think that is the way to go.

thanks for any help, :o

You don't need a form with the Houston addreess on it. Print and use ther form available on the DC Embassy website.

Any of the honarary consulates are easier to deal with than the thai-staffed official consulates. The embassy is the last place you should go to for visas.

makes sense. is an itinerary even necessary when making application to houston, any idea?

When I lived in CA and used the L.A. consulate I never ever sent in anything but my passport, fees, application and return sase. I've only been here two years, so it wasn't that long ago. I'll check with my friends coming next month and see if they had to submit an itinerary.

hey, just received an email from some soul who works at the houston consulate and this is the real news as of today's date:

--when travelling with a US passport, no proof of funds or itinerary are needed.

--on tourist visa 3 entries are allowed, $25/each.

thanks to all who gave input. sure glad i waited the extra day to research. the embassy 'general requirements' were a nightmare. so, go houston! :o
