Which Cheap Printer To Buy

Featured Replies

All our printers in the office are Brother HL-2140 and they worked amazing.

With a bit black tape you could get out 50 % more from the toner.

Double of the drum lifetime was possible.

But since one year the new bought one die from broken drum units early. The drum mechanic get a problem.

I am very annoyed that every month one printer dies.

Someone has good experiences with any model/brand?

It should be cheap

It should last many copies without problems

printing quality isn't important

The toner should be cheap or cheap copied toner/refilled toner available.

It should run without problems on WinXP/Win 7

No paper jams with normal paper....

If the quality isn't very important then use a dot-matrix printer. :)

if 5 people print in my office with that noisy beasts I get crazy...

Also sometimes we print some simple drawings....

Been through:

Lexmark: great print outs if you can afford the toner cartridges. A new printer is cheaper than a set of all four colours.

Oki: It's drum died a pre-mature death and was almost as expensive as new printer. We tossed that thing against the wall and bought a

Brother: So far the best one we had and since it was a fax/scanner/printer combo it was still cheaper to replace a drum that went south instead of buynig a new one.

I concur that the lifespan of printers today is a disgrace.

I heard good things about Lexmark. I think I'll look at Lexmark and HP. Toner is of course an important thing. Back in Europe I had a HP printer with 150.000 pages on the counter, most pages made in a small office with heavy smokers. I refilled it with the cheapest Toner from the copy shop (costs nothing).
