April 9, 201114 yr Just looking for opinions, In my native country it was worth its value. I was wondering if the same holds true here. Back home, I would buy food during the summer months when it was cheaper than the winter months. But here in Ubon, I don't see much variation throughout the season. I could be very wrong, I would like to hear your viewpoint?
April 10, 201114 yr I have one. They are relatively expensive, and there's not a good selection to choose from. I think I paid approx 10.000 Baht for mine several years ago. The rest is as the say - up to you!
April 10, 201114 yr For bread and frozen veges etc if you live out in the sticks and only get to town say once a month - yes. Meat etc can usually be found fresh every day within a few kms of just about everywhere. This is what happens for me anyway so the freezer compartment of my current fridge is big enough for my family.
April 10, 201114 yr Think the decider is where you live, city you can just go get what you want, For those of us in the boonies a freezer is a must. I eat mostly Thai food, but like a bit of variety now and then. With the freezer can make up bulk meals. freeze them in bags and micro wave them when I want. Jim
April 10, 201114 yr Absolutely essential for me. Our nearest supermarket is 80 kilometres away. Sam e with Makro. So, we go once every 3 months approx., and do a bulk buy. And freeze .Frozen seafood -wonderful. We are a mere 400+ kilometres from the nearest sea or beach. Thai food- sure we shop locally, local Monday market , every week.I must say, My freezer is once of the best investments I have made in Thailand. Love it
April 10, 201114 yr If you live in the city area of Ubon, or a few kms away, there is absolutely no need for a freezer., whatever your tastes in food.
