Bangkok Airport - Kunming China

Featured Replies

I'm new here, but I guess we all were once!! Any advice apart from find a seat and sleep will be greatly appreciated. I fly into Bangkok, from London HR on Monday18th April, arriving at 13.10 but my connecting flight, on to Kunming in China doesn't leave until Tuesday 19th April at 10.05. I don't have a visa for Thailand and what is a 20+ hour prospect of killing time seems daunting. Can I obtain a visa there, to exit the airport. If so, advice please on easily located 'economy' hotels.

if you are travelling on a british passport you get 30 days visa free in thailand so you will have no problems leaving the airport

As above, and google airport hotels in BKK there are many nearby that will pick you up and drop you off the following day. Don't expect anything exciting though as the airport is in the middle of nowhere and so are most of the hotels. If it were me I would jump on the rail link to BKK and walk around to find a hotel, you could then sample some of the nightlife ;)

Brilliant, thanks for the replies folks, much appreciated.

I am making for Kunming having to cut short a break back here in the UK and 'expedia' in their wisdom brought this route up. Of course with the price of it I jumped at and paid for it.

Only noticing the 'lost' 24 hours in BKK this morning as I checked tickets, passport money etc.

So I don't need, because of my UK passport, a visa............ great.

The night life happens if I hit town. Errrm sounds like a perfect opportunity to spend most of the 'waiting time' being occupied enjoyably. What sort of budget would I be looking at?

Half decent ensuite room along with a taste of Thailand!!!!

If you exit the airport you will have to pay a Departure tax which may not have been included in your fair as you were a transit passenger.
