I have a work permit to teach for a particular school.

I have now bween approached to work for another small company as a consultant. I will need a permit for this and am told the company must be "worth" 2million baht.

Thee issues as I see it are how many permits can I hold?

what will it / they cost?

Are the requirements the same for a teacher as an MD or consultant?

Eg UK passport have extended non-im "B".

Wilko, check with the immigration people, if possible, where you will be doing your consultancy. It very much depends on them and the duration of your consultancy.

Cheers......kandt

^ I'd have thunk the Labour Dept. would be the people to ask?

But yeah I'm pretty sure you can have more than one WP!

Yes - I think it's Chonburi Labour dept I have to approach. I’m not sure you can have 2 work permits.

OK so here are 3 scenarios....

1 - I'm told that most teaching permits only cover you for the actual premises of the school or academy you're working for. This would mean that any teacher going to teach at a factory would technically be in breach of his/her permit.

2 - If one got a full-time job at a factory, who would be responsible for the work permit then, the school that provided the teacher or the premises/business where he is working?

3 - Can an MD of a school have a permit to run the school and also one to teach???

This mainly just guesswork (from what I've seen and read over the years), so please don't take this as gospel.

Yes, generally WPs are location specific (although it doesn't seem to be a problem) so in theory yes you'd be in breach of your permit. Although it is possible to have more than one location on/in your work permit.
2 - If one got a full-time job at a factory, who would be responsible for the work permit then, the school that provided the teacher or the premises/business where he is working?

Really your school should get you a WP to teach there as they're paying your wages.....probably easier said than done though.

3 - Can an MD of a school have a permit to run the school and also one to teach???

I'd have thought so, although many probably wouldn't bother (due to the logic that it's hard enough to get one WP let alone two).

As I said purely guesswork and assumption, to be sure check with them.
