Anyone Has Tried South African Multichoice Sat?

Featured Replies

Found in satthai.net, seems Multichoice has good English channels. Anyone has it already? Would it be possible to use small dish only?

I have it, but then again, I am in South Africa.

You need a dish, size doesn't matter, and a decoder.

I'm in BKK and bought a movable satellite dish ( 7.5 feet ) from JSAT. That is the smallest dish you can buy to receive the signal from South Africa.

During installation, they will recommend a guy in Pattaya who provides the DS-TV subscription card. I paid around B32,000 for the dish, including installation in 2 points in my apartment. I paid B52,000 for the annual subscription to DS-TV, which is about a 40% premium to what you would pay if you lived in SA. Maybe Norrad can confirm this.

Since then, I have learned there is someone who may be selling the cards for B40,000, but I have not investigated this as my card is good until next April.

Here is where you can find info on all the channels available through the subscription.

I bought the card mailnly for the sports.

As a bonus, with a movable dish, we now get the Philippine satellite channels unscrambled right now, It is basically a mirror of the UBC channel offering.

Hope this helps.
