Sorry if it appears as a smart arse answer but spiders are excellent at keeping your cockroach population at bay. Probably not an appropiate solotion in your case. Also cockies seek out food and water so if these are not available then they have nothing to seek out .Let your neighbours feed them instead. iI have also used those cocroach sticky traps with mixed success. They seem to work for a short while but six months may not be as succusful. There used to be other plastic cockroach traps on the market too (like a cockroach maze that they couldn't find their way out of and would die) that were successful.

Best repellant would be zero sources of food and water.

If you can find it in Thailand

Boric Acid powder will offer a good kill beyond the 6 month period. Concentrate the powder at entry points (wet walls) in kitchen and bathrooms and at front door and sliding glass doors, etc.

I buy my boric acid at my local pharmacy here in Ban Chang. He has to order it in. Small boxes about 250gms. I have not bought it for a couple years now as the roaches moved on.

I spray floor areas inside cupboards with Permedan available here from FRiendship, it dries onto the floor and when they walk on it the absorbe it and die.

I haven't had many problems with roaches but have used Chaindrite spray for other critters in the kitchen and it works good...just spray down points of entry and it's effective...either in aerosol can or a liquid mixture; gotta use gloves when handling the liquid mixture as it's pretty strong...effective both in the upstairs outdoor family kitchen and downstairs in my own western kitchen and the critters don't return...
