Android And Virtual Private Networks

Featured Replies

I have a friend who just arrived back from the UK. While he was there, he purchased a Tablet PC with Android 3.0 (Honeycomb) installed. He currently uses My Private Network to access the web with a UK based IP address from Thailand, using his Desktop and Notebook computers.

However, he discovered his Tablet wouldn't connect to the VPN and contacted their customer service. Their customer service were very helpful and told him that his version of Android is not compatible with their current service and offered hm a Beta service to try. The tablet also couldn't connect to the Beta service. My Private Network replied that they are working on a solution to the problem. Something to do with Google and and the newly released Android. They said that when they find a solution they will contact him.

He was caught off guard by this, as Android 3.0 has the ability to setup a VPN. It was something he looked into prior to the prior to purchasing. However in the meantime, he has no access to the internet with his Tablet, using a UK based IP address. It is very imperative that he has this access. It was the main reason he purchased the Tablet.

Does anyone know of a VPN Service available in Thailand which an Android 3.0 device (using WiFi) can currently connect to?
