Lots of places but the best quality job will be done at Amnuay Motor Air 1 or 2. Amnuay 2 even has an air-con tinting room (air-con waiting room as well) that you drive in to. It helps to prevent dust getting between the film and windscreen. Amnuay 2 is on the Superhighway pretty much opposite to Carrefour. It's the building with the big blue Pioneer sign.

Thanks...how are they about prices? That air-con staff feels good, but does it add to the price?...and how do I know what film to pick?Last time at some auto show I saw something called V-Cool...is that the staff?...and how about the "legal" thing?...are there any laws(well),so to speak?

You'll find cheaper than Amnuay but unlikely you'll find better.

They have an illumination box that contrasts the different levels of tint. Years ago a law was introduced banning tint that was too dark, but I've never heard of it being implemented.

This totally depends on personal preference, but my choice was to add 3M 40% greenish tint on all windows (including the windscreen). That might sound sound slightly crazy, but because it is the greenish tint it is still absolutely fine for night driving and dramatically reduces the heat in the car without losing all of the light. You will get as many opinions as people you ask, but that works for me...

Personally I wouldn't go for a dark tint for the same reason I wouldn't choose a black car - it may look good, but surely absorbs heat... I also chose not to take the dealers advice to go for 60% on side and rear windows, because funnily enough I like to see out of those at night too! My choice was to err on the light side and it works great for me. jap.gif

Clearly you don't want film that's too dark as it's hyper annoying at night. I think that law did actually pass, but TIT; it's not enforced rigorously. Still, it sucks not being able to see stuff at night so best to give common sense a chance.

I have an 80% tint that works great in the day. It also has a silver reflection, so nobody can see you inside :)

But if you drive a night, I think 40-60% is a lot safer. 500 baht per window is what I paid. I don't think Amnuay is all that hot because the workers are 'normal quality', meaning that they do make mistakes. Recently, I had some work done on my aircon at Amnuay, and two days later, it failed because they forgot to add any fluids....

My screen is done with Lamina film (as is the whole car) but the screen is a 60% tint looks dark from the outside but sitting in the drivers seat its crystal clear, does not look tinted at all, rest of the windows are just a straight 80% black tint.

interesting topic, because I am thinking to redo it with my car, the film that is now on the windows is full of bubbles and very annoying to drive in the night and daytime, it seems that there even 2 layers of film on it, I tried to remove it from the side windows, almost impossible..anyone some advice how to remove it or leave it to the specialized shops?

Let the shop do it; they they do it all the time. Chances are they won't even charge extra for removal.

Going down the Hang Dong road a bit further on past Tesco is a centre selling among other things Carry Boy products, I have had work done in this shop and they do an excellent job. They will put the film on my carry boy, three good size windows, for only 800 Baht. This shop is most unusual around here as it is very clean and well laid out, all in all a very profesional run outfit.

Thanks guys for your respond...so,I went "shopping" today and as I thought the product and prices vary...from 4500 to 20000(!),that's for four door sedan.Still can't see the visual difference between 3M,Lamina,or many of those "kool" staff...really don't want to spend 20K for a tint...the lowest price was at the Hang Dong Carryboy place BTW...my guess is,if it's done right the 3M will do?!

Jebus, I had my pickup done with Lumina for 2,500 (6 windows) which included stripping the old tint.

Where?

No Idea, one of my Staff took it and had it done, somewhere in Laem Chabang though.

...well,that's OK...I guess I will not be going there anyway LOL...

Last time when we bought a new car,the film was included...maybe that's the answer-buy a new car,get the film free...:D

What?! Why not?! It makes for yet another legitimate excuse to visit the Eastern Seaboard!

Do you think, that I should get the windows tinted before the trip?...long way in the sunshine... :D

What's wrong with airconditioning and sunglasses anyway. ;)

Also you could drive at night. Or if you leave at 4am then you should get to Laem Chabang around noon-ish, so you escape most of the heat anyway. Quick shower, drop car at the shop, then you're there in time when the afternoon bars open in Patters. Clockwork.

Just asked my production supervisor, it was done by one of his mates who owns a tinting business, I only had to pay the price of the film, retail price would have been Bt.4000.

yeah 4,500 is ok as long as they use good quality film, you will be pissed if they use the cheapest junk and in 6 months time you have purple windows cause the colour leeched out of the tint.

OK,it's done...I went with the shop in Hang Dong(thanks Paulchiangmai),they did a good job while waiting about 2.5 hrs.It is all 3M,with the very light on windshield(8%)and the rest is 57%(not too many choices in 3M)...but it looks great!!!...and 7 years guarantee!!!...and cost (well) only 4500 Baht.

...but funny thing happened, normally they will give the recite to me and change to my wife, this time it was other way around and I've got a cash back, while my wife got a tag...and I've put the money in my pocket...after we are way back driving home in the traffic, the manager calls back and says he gave a wrong change...I've stopped and and checked...yes,I got an extra 500 Baht!...that never happened before!...well,they did a good job,so I'll go back to do some stereo work...and give them back that 500 Baht!...looks like a good place and they have a air-con room with some "farang" channels TV.
