Dear all,my high km toyota 1989 twin cam tends to "hunt" for revs when at a steady speed. eg, the revs decrease and increase ever so slightly when at say, 50kmh. I suspect a air leak in the manifold. The loverly folks at CM Toyota, quoted me 25,000 bT, for a new carbie, they also quoted me 15,000 to regas/repair the Air con. This is their way of saying" get your old car out of here and find a small shop to work on it.

Does any one have a favourite small shop in CM who is prepared to work on old cars? There are about 1718732710230972 old toyotas in CM, so there must be a reliable place somewhere.

Thanks

Try 'Cockpit' if there's one in CM they do servicing etc.

Thanks for the reply, i think there are cockpit garages in CM, but, like toyota they prefer to do "book" servicing. I really need a small shop who is prepared to do a bit of tinkering and maybe replace the carbie with a reconditioned one.

The air con i will just take to Aunusan Air, who seem to be the experts in CM,

All the Best,

Thinking about it you don't seem to get many people talking about Carbs, it could be something very simple from fuel filter fault, something in the fuel your using.

Are your spark plugs OK, leads etc, etc.

You can get overhaul kits for carbs but I guess you would have to order it, the other thing is what carb is it, Jap Toyota models used Hitachi but if it was made in Thailand maybe it's different.

The other thing that came to mind was the Volvo I had years ago did what you describe and it was only the a rubber diaphragm inside the carb that was split.
