KRS1
im looking at a flyer from True for 3 g service and it says WCDMA 850 mhz. Is this the same as GSM,EDGE,GPRS? I thought that only CAT was CDMA?
thaicbr
that's why it says Wcdma...cos it's different from Cdma. But True are on UMTS 850mhz... AHHH ok google tells me it's the same..Wcdma = UMTS ALSO according to True not much choice of handsets.. http://www.truemove.com/3g/model_support.html I know there are others.. so i presume this thin range is what they are stocking..... KRS1
man im going nuts with all these acronyms. But i finally got a grip on things. i think. hey i was wondering about these net packages from True. For example when they say 20 hours of edge|gprs|wifi and then say 'FREE' 5 hours of 3g - does this mean you get EITHER the edge,etc...or...3g? or do you get both? Im asking because when i bought the number it said i get 15 hours edge,etc...plus 3 hours of 3g.....but everything stopped working after 3 hours, accordingly to the sales woman i was to get both. i miss the simplicity of dial up. lomatopo
http://www.truemove.com/en/prepay-hispeed-net-sim-time-base-condition.htm You should get 15 hours of GPRS AND 3 hours of 3G. If you send an SMS to 9789 with b in the body you will get back a message with the details of your plan and your current usage of GPRS, 3G and WiFi all detailed separately. monty
You're supposed to get both. But make sure your handset or whatever you use is set to use GPRS/EDGE only after your 3G is finished. If your handset detects WCDMA with good signal strength, it'll try to connect to 3G, but True will reject. Most likely your handset is not trying GPRS afterwards, they are usually programmed to use GPRS/EDGE only if no WCDMA signal (or too low signal) can be found. Most handsets offer following settings: GPRS/EDGE only GPRS/EDGE preferred WCDMA only WCDMA preferred.
