This year seems to have less movies with quality I guess. I can hardly remember watching any "class" movies... Most movies released were of average standard ... or is it that I missed the good quality ones???

War of the worlds, Star wars and Sin City were good but not worth calling a beautiful movie... Anyone seen "History of Violence"??? Looks like something what I am waiting for...

History of Violence was one of the better films I've seen all year. (william hurt, lance hendrickson, ed harris - cameos, but superve) Vigo was outstanding!

Cinderella Man was great too!!!!

I Watched 'History of violence' yesterday and enjoyed it a lot. I've also been bemused by the lack of recent good movies, although I have yet to watch Cindarella man.

I've been going through the back catalogue and have watched 'Apollo 13', 'K 19 widowmaker' 'Asian Insertion' 6 through 9 and '13 days' (I think) about the Cuban missile crisis. All top movies and all with numbers in their titles.

Watched 'Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory', on the strength of a review I read in a HK rag saying that it was a 'dark and twisted masterpiece, set to be a classic' How very, very wrong that advice was. Unless he'd never seen the original.

The saddest news I've heard is that Stallone is making Rocky 6. Should rank right up there with 'Police Academy 12, Tackleberry goes really really kerazee!'

Still, with a number in its title it may well be better than anything on offer right now.

Legend of Zorro and Memoirs of a Geisha are due to be released this year.

I think Memoirs of a Geisha would be worth the ticket. I hope, Hollywood screws up everything that shouldn't be screwed up. Like the Geishas being played by Hillary Duff and Jesscia Simpson. They will find a way to fck it up. :o

That's one good thing about delayed relase dates in Thailand... it gives you plenty of time for the reviews to come in before you waste time and money seeing a crap film. I like http://www.rottentomatoes.com/ It doesn't list Thai movies but those are 99% crap anyway -- it's hard to even call them films! If one is really good it will stay in the theatres a long time and give you a second chance to see it. Also http://www.imdb.com/ is good and even has Thai films, too. Unfortunately sometimes Thai distributors really miss out on importing some quality flicks -- in that case your only hope is to find it on VCD or BitTorrent.

V for vendettta was supposed to be released on 4th Nov... now some post issues i guess... release shifted to March17th 2006 as per yahoo movies... I was waiting for last 9 months after i saw wachowski bros name again... now 6 months left..

Memoirs gives me a good feeling... but am afraid after my experience with Ridley Scott and Kingdom of heaven....

Memoirs should be good, it was a great book.

Anybody know when 'V for Vendetta' is out?  Thats what Im waiting for.

I'd recommend seeing"The Constant Gardener"

Ralph Fienes is a great actor, I like most of the movies that he stars in, and he was very good in this. The film was very moving and sad, but I liked it very much. The story was great, being adapted from john LaCarre(Sp?), and driected by that guy that did "City of God".

The best movie I've seen this year, so far. Not to mention that Rachel Wietz is always good on the eyes!

:o

Want to go see "History of Violence" also, heard many good things about it, and I like Cronenberg's films.

Looking forward to seeing "V for Vendetta", I'm a big Alan Moore fan as well. Read it back in College.

That's where I first read about your "Guy Fawkes Day"... :D

I liked Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind

It was so different from formula driven Hollywood pictures where you can predict everything that happens.

Can't wait for Wallace & Gromitt!

Wonder if Flightplan will be any good?

Memoirs doesn't have Hollywood actresses but uses Chinese actresses for the 3 Japanese female leads...

heard today they are making rocky 6

rocky has a rematch with clubber lang

should be funny mr t is 53

In the best news I've heard all day, Mr. T is set to reprise his role as Clubber Lang (the only man to defeat Rocky during his championship reign in the movies) in Rocky 6.

Now, I'm a little bit torn over this. I'm one of the only guys on the plant who actually really liked Rocky 5 (it was a very different Rocky film... and it had it's weaknesses, but I still thought it was a solid movie). However, I think the notion of a Rocky 6 is a stupid idea. You can only go back to the well so many times. I think this is a mistake. But now I'm excited about seeing it just because I want to see Mr. T on the big screen again! Oh yeah baby! I PITY THE FOOL THAT DOES DRUGS.

The good folks over at MovieHole give us this:

The former "A-Team" star will reprise his role as boxer Clubber Lang in "Rocky 6", opposite Sylvester Stallone. The tough-talking 80's icon confirmed his involvement in the sequel on radio's Howard Stern show. In the new movie, Clubber Lang - who played Rocky Balboa's opponent in "Rocky III" - will now be a commentator.

Ok, it sucks that he'll just be a commentator... but still, it's awesome that he's in there at all. Oh the nostalgia of it all.

Team America! (<deleted> Yeah!)

By far the greatest film ever made. The songs are brilliant and the puppet sex is disgusting. The send up of the Film Actos Guild (FAG) is hilarious!

I have just watched ong bak, the only decent Thai film i have ever seen, the stunts and fighting were on par with the legend that is Jackie Chan.

A must see film :o

The lead is being played by Chinese actress Zhang Ziyi (House of Flying Daggers), who is really hot - and a great actress - but doesn't look Japanese. Other fine Chinese actresses in it are Gong Li and Michelle Yeoh, but it isn't going to seem very realistic to anyone who's been to Japan. At least there's Ken Watanabe from The Last Samurai.

I saw a brief clip on cable last week and it looked a bit Hollywood. Spielberg is producing but director Rob Marshall is only well-known for Chicago. Prior to that he was a choreographer. :D

Those piercing blue eyes of the lead actress.... way seductive/hot. :D

Jarhead looks like an interesting film.

What, they couldn't find any Japanese actresses, or they just couldn't find Japan? :o

Hollywood always pisses me off. A country full of people who belong to the culture being portraied and they can't use one Japanese woman? Is it because no one in America knows a Japanese actress?

I think it's because there aren't any internationally known Japanese actresses who can speak reasonable English. Since this is a big production of a popular book, and a serious drama, they need A-grade actresses. Lucy Liu played a Japanese babe in Kill Bill, but that was an "anything goes" movie.
