I am making the move from PC to notebook for practical reasons and am looking for a bit of advice

After looking through some local engineer forums they say that they very rarely get any ASUS computers to fix. They seem to be the most durable and can handle the heat here the best so based on this I am quite keen on an ASUS

After picking up a brochure today there seems to be able to only 2 reasonably price larger screens (15.6") at 18,900 & 21,900 THB (+ tax)

They are the K53 series, has anyone had any experience with these models and was it positive?

Also, I plan to go drive to Phuket to purchase, is there anywhere there likely to have them in stock

Thanks in advance

Cheers

No experience with these particular models, but lots of experience with lots of other Asus products. 4 laptops / netbooks, as well as many motherboards over the years, and I've never had a problem with any of them. Asus builds good stuff.

Asus and Dell are top on reliability

Also thinking of moving to replace PC with laptop, at this moment on spec I like this one

http://www.jib.co.th/TH/prodetail.asp?Lang=TH&ID_Product=13875 Looks a better spec for the price then the Asus

I do have a very old Sony, so old it is past it now + have a Acer but this is bad, cost a lot 38,000 2 years ago, nothing but problems + screen is to small, and the output to connect my big monitor worked for 3 days, was repaired at least 5x but each repair worked no more then 3 days, under warranted, will never buy Acer again.

My Bell Monitor has never missed a beat in 7 years, My Asus motherboard likewise in my PC, normally rebuild every 2 years but have not done so now for over 4 as never had any problem

Thanks, this is making me even more cnfident to buy ASUS.

Will head to Phuket soon, which shop has the biggest selection 'in stock' there?

Live North of Bangkok, but JIB Computers have 100's of shops all over Thailand, have found over the years any problem they fix or repair or exchange fast and fuss free, unlike some other PC shops I have used/bought faulty goods from.

J.I.B Computer Group - Phuket Town

Phang-nga Road, Mueang Phuket, Phuket, 83000

But sure other that live down there will advise better about Phuket

There doesn't seem to be many cheap larger screened ASUS on the main sites at the moment, I'm hoping I can get one in the shops.

I will give JIB Computers a try and I have also been advised of Power Buy at Central & the top floor at Jungceylon.

Thanks all for your help, I will let you know how I get on

There's also a new J.I.B. in the basement of Big C. http://www.jib.co.th next door to Banana IT http://www.bigitshop.com/shopping/monitors/

And there's "Advice" computer shop at the east end of Phang Nga Road, in Surin Road. http://www.talaadcom.co.th

All the big shops in Phuket only seemed to hold in stock the standard 14" screens so no luck there.

I found and bought one in a shop on the ground floor of Tesco in Krabi for just under 24,000.

Very happy with the ASUS KS53S, good size, just hope it stands the test of time.

Cheers
