Hi

I am prescribed an andipressant and Adderall XR for an anxiety disorder. This contains amphetamine @ dextroamphetamine.

Not wanting to get in trouble about the very strict laws on importing this stuff, i am just wandering if i bring my prescription and enough for my next trip in Thailand is this allowed?

Can anyone guide me in the right direction on rules for brining in prescription medicines like this

Thanks!

I had no problems many years ago. I went through the red channel at DM and explained that I had medicinal drugs in my luggage and a letter from a doctor that he had prescribed them. I was waved through by a fat old Immigration Captain bird, no search, no check.

My experience with all Thai cops I have come into contact with to date is if you are polite and civil, they are as good as gold. BTW I do not part with money unless I have committed an offence, and sometimes not even then. :jap:

Otherwise i could get a letter from my doctor in australia and then try to get a prescription in thailand, maybe that would be the way to go?

Be sure to get a letter from your doctor and go go to the red channel at the airport. If you want to get it in Thailand, have your doctor contact a mayor hospital in Bangkok to prearrange things.

Sheryl might be able to tell you if it is a prescription drug in Thailand or not.

That's me.

Adderall is not approved for use in Thailand so no chance of getting it legally here. The closest you can come is Ritalin or Strattera, and these are strictly controlled drug in Thailand, available only on prescription and from a hospital pharmacy (and not all hospitals stock them(.

Since amphetamines are illegal substances with no approved medical use in Thailand it is not legal to bring them in.

I suggest you ask your doctor if a switch to Ritalin or Strattera would be possible.

You can legally bring in up to a 30 day supply of these with you. just be certain that it is in a clearly labelled prescription bottle and also that you have with you a medical certificate stating the need for the drug and that it was prescribed to you (you'd want to have that anyhow to show docs in Thailand should you need a refill).

Most antidepressents are OTC in Thailand.
