Buisiness / Job And Lao Citizen

Dear Sunbelt and all members,

As a Thai Ltd Company (under BOI), we would like to diversify our activities (new activity will not be under BOI) and therefore my wife (who is Lao Citizen) would be involved and manage this new activity.

I have few questions:

1/ Is it possible that our company employ a Lao Citizen?

2/ If yes, is there any restricted job for Lao citizen in Thailand (as ASEAN member) as listed for Foreigner "falang" (occupation and professional in which an alien is prohibited to engage B.E.2522)?

I mean, is this decree applicable as well for ASEAN citizen?

(I would guess that the regulation is different as many Lao have a labour job in Thailand???)

3/ Or is it better for a Lao Citizen to create her own company in Thailand? Is the regulation the same as for foreigner "falang"? But again, need to know if there is any restricted job for Lao citizen.
