Thailand ranks first at five-nation Judo tournament

HANOI: -- Judo artists from Thailand bagged 12 gold medals and ranked first at the 2nd Ha Noi international judo tournament, followed by Japan (three gold medals), and Viet Nam I (one gold).

According to local experts, the failure of Viet Nam to earn three gold medals was due to the fact that most members of Viet Nam's national Judo team were attending training courses in China and the Republic of Korea in preparation for the 23rd Southeast Asian SEA Games.

It is expected that through the tournament, Vietnamese Judo coaches will work out proper tactics to help their athletes gain top results at the 23rd SEA Games – the region's biggest sporting event - to be held in the Philippines later this year.

The tournament took place in Ha Noi from Oct. 22-23, drawing the participation of 64 artists from Japan, Thailand, Malaysia, Laos and Viet Nam, who competed in 16 weight categories

There is a judo club at Wattanopayap school but I believe this is only for pupils at the school. I have been thinking to start a Judo club myself with a friend and I'm currently looking around for premises - I am a 5thDan Black belt and my friend is a 3rdDan black belt. I also holding several national coaching qualification and have now been practising 45 years

regards
