Stupid question I know but if you don't know how to..... !!

2 questions

On my downloads from the BBC I can only find them under "file" and double click to view-no problem, but should I be able to see listings downloaded elsewhere like the library ??

Secondly how do I delete viewed downloads !! If I go back into "file" and left or right click no pop up box appears giving me choices ??

Thanks

I don't use the real player.

But if you don't get any better information, you can try this:

Option 1: I don't think Real Player is using his own file system. So every download must be stored into the windows file system.

Why not using the window search function with the file name provided by Real Player

Option 2: Using Google I found this answer (but in German) to a similar question (where to save the downloads):

Click on EXTRA - Options - Download - Record (the last one at the bottom of the selection list). Next you will find on top "save as". Here you can see / change the directory for downloa

This is a translation from German for Real Player 11. I am not sure if the English version has the same menu items. But at least you can try..

Regarding delete of a file: Just use the normal function of the windows explorer (right click) after you know where to find (see above)

Ok thanks for your reply.

I wasn't intentional using the Real Player-I had the download icons on the BBCi player and clicked on download to Windows Media Player so not sure why that occured. Am no techie so maybe the laptop defaulted to it ??

To find downloads open my documents then my videos where I find a folder titled RealPlayer Downloads. To delete I either right click the file, then click delete inthe drop menu or open Real Player, open video library and right click the file and click delete (check the box) from hard drive.

Sounds like you need to go to BBC iPlayer help and read about using the iPlayer Desktop.

I'm not a BBC fan so I can't give you details. But my UK friend tells me that the iPlayer Desktop is used to download and manage downloaded videos from iPlayer.

Ok did it by the route of your first solution.Deleted to recycle Bin and emptied.

However when I click on file on real player they are still listed there ?? Any suggestions apart from living with it !!

Prior to deletion they were not showing anywhere in library under downloads recordings etc in the first place ??

No I think you are responsible.

If you download a file normally you can select between "save as" and "installation".

As long as you select "save as" the file is stored into the window file system (no file is downloaded to WMP).

If you select "installation" (or double-click on the saved file etc) everythingcool.gif can happen.

Normally the program can be used after this (probably you can change some options) but sometimes you also may invite a virus.

The consequences may vary depending on your security management (antivirus, system-update etc).

So I assume during the installation of iplayer you accepted to change the standard player for some (depending of extension) or all media files to the iplayer.

Sorry I have neither time nor knowledge to give you a computer course.

If you know how you can google for an online course.

Happy surfing and good luck

Sorry to inform you but I didn't install Real Player. The Advent came with it already loaded.

I can view the recordings from real player and delete as already mentioned.

And yes I can Google as good as the next man but if you ask it the same question its clear there is a myriad of suggestions none of which match each other.

If you want to clear the video library folder, right click and delete each file; takes time, but the only way I know how except uninstalling Real Player.. Good luck.

Video library is empty- but was empty even when having 3 episodes of Top Gear within Real Player accessed only via "file" tab !!

As I mentioned before, the BBC iPlayer downloads are in hidden away in BBC's iPlayer Desktop on your computer. This helps to prevent them from being copied, edited, or distributed. After all it's copyrighted material and the property of BBC.

Don't worry. I checked on the BBC website. They will automatically be deleted in 30 days, or sooner if the BBC decides to pull them. If you uninstall the iPlayer Desktop, they also will be deleted. ;)

Maybe the reason for the confusing replies, is because of your vague OP. :whistling:

Possibly but at same time was told in no uncertain circumstances when discussing iplayer never to download the iplayer desktop last week.

Certainly they do not delete after 30 days-have bbc recordings on real player tab "file" from April 2011.

When deleting via another posters advice they were in Documents-Video.
