Crime Man Fires Gun in Frustration After Confrontation Between Wife and Mistress
Picture courtesy of Daily News. A 45-year-old man was arrested after firing gunshots into the air in a residential neighbourhood, following a heated altercation between his wife and mistress. The incident took place on 26 July in the Thai Ramasan community of Ratchaburi municipality, shocking residents and prompting an immediate police response. Pol Lt Col Charoenya Priso, an investigator with Ratchaburi City Police Station, received reports of a man recklessly firing a weapon in public. The report was quickly escalated to Pol Col Paiboon Praesinuan, station superintendent, who ordered a team led by Pol Lt Thanakorn Chantrach and Pol Sub Lt Phiphop Phanthong to respond. At the scene, officers recovered two spent 9mm shell casings. CCTV footage from nearby homes revealed a shirtless man riding a worn red Yamaha Fino motorcycle, registered in Ratchaburi, firing two shots into the air before riding off. With the assistance of eyewitnesses and security footage, police swiftly identified the suspect as Mr. “Hilo”, a local man aged 45. He was contacted and asked to return to the scene, where he was arrested less than 30 minutes after the incident. Officers also seized the weapon involved. Initial questioning revealed that the man had been at home when his mistress unexpectedly arrived and confronted his legal wife. An argument erupted, and although he attempted to intervene, he failed to de-escalate the situation. Frustrated and emotionally overwhelmed, he took his firearm, left on his motorcycle and fired into the air to release his anger. Authorities have charged him with multiple offences, including illegal possession of a firearm and ammunition, carrying a weapon in public without a legitimate reason and discharging a firearm in a residential area without just cause. He and the weapon were handed over to investigators at Ratchaburi City Police Station for further legal proceedings. Adapted by Asean Now from Daily News 2025-07-28 -

Thai - Cambodia Conflict Cambodian Spy Suspect Caught in Surin – Three Accomplices Still at Large
UPDATE Thai Man Mistaken for Cambodian Spy Near Conflict Zone, Officials Clarify Picture courtesy of Komchadluek. Authorities in Surin province have clarified that a Thai man detained on suspicion of espionage near an active border conflict zone is not a Cambodian spy, but a civilian with peaceful intentions. The incident occurred near the Ta Muen Thom temple area, where tensions have flared in recent days due to skirmishes between Thai and Cambodian forces. A man driving a car was stopped by security officials after he was spotted acting suspiciously in the vicinity. He had set a GPS route, raising concerns among the authorities. When questioned, he claimed he was there to deliver a monk. Given the ongoing security threats in the region and reports of Cambodian spies infiltrating the area, officials decided to detain the man for further questioning by police to rule out any potential threat. However, a statement released on the official Facebook page of the Phanom Dong Rak District Office later confirmed the man’s identity as Mr. Sirikorn, a 50-year-old Thai national from Aranyaprathet District, Sa Kaeo Province. Authorities stated that he had no connection to any intelligence activities and that the incident was the result of a misunderstanding. According to the statement, Mr. Sirikorn had travelled to the area with the purpose, to deliver a statue of King Taksin the Great alongside Luang Pu Wang (Phra Ajarn Surat Wijaro) from Tham Phet Phothai Hermitagein Khlong Kai Thuean Subdistrict, Khlong Hat District, Sa Kaeo Province. The statue was a symbolic gift meant to boost morale among Thai soldiers stationed at the border. “Due to the current security situation and the presence of unfamiliar individuals in the area, officers took precautionary action to verify the man’s identity and intentions,” the district office stated. “The investigation confirmed he is a Thai citizen with no malicious intent.” Authorities urged the public to remain vigilant but also to avoid spreading misinformation or jumping to conclusions that may lead to unnecessary panic or confusion.
