Having noticed that the regional Korat Farang forum is now closed it prompted me to think what a shame that was.

Whilst we all love ThaiVisa.com, and I always use it for important stuff like visas, I do find regional forums useful for local debate and information.

I would agree with Mr Cardholder. Regional forums not only deal with local issues better, but chances are you know most of the posters. Thai Visa is wonderful for national issues, and those affecting expats in general. Thai Visa Isaan thread, covering the area I live is too vast and general in scope to be of much benefit, yet if it were broken up into smaller parts, I doubt it would survive. Some years ago there was a Buriram subsection to the Isaan thread, but apart from daily weather forecasts there was little else posted. And when the weather man moved, the thread died.

There are quite a surprising number of Thai regional forums.

All can be very helpful and informative, as they tend to be more familial and thematic.

I also agree, I look at two other forums other than ThaiVisa that are more specific to where I live, and find the local information more help than the bigger forum. I've also now met a couple of other members, (Hi Ray and Nick), and feel a little more at home with the local forums.

Can't give up ThaiVisa though, sometimes it's like a soap opera or a car wreck, just can't look away!

Hi Mario - I started this thread because I believe there is harmony between many of the forums. TV will always be the main, central forum where it will usually be the best source of information. The local forums fit in snugly with that and tend to be a little more forgiving in terms of content and obviously more directly focused on our locally - something that not even the Isaan forum can achieve on here. Long may all be well-supported and it is a shame that the Korat forum ceased operation.

I also found this regional forum to be very informative I also like TV but a folder in a forum covering the whole northeast isnt really too helpful to me.

I'm not sure of the reasons for it's demise but I know a few arguments spilled over into the real world recently. As we all know no matter what the subject, theres always a queue of keyboard warriors ready to pick holes in your argument, spelling, punctuation etc.

Ahhh well a bit of a shame as I didnt live on the forum, I only really used it to find/give local advice/info.
