How Do I Know If Im On Premier(3Bb)

Recommended Posts

I just moved houses and had my line moved. I am on the old 3bb premier plan 3mbps for 1.8k baht or something close to that. I now have 7mbit/600kbps. Im worried they didnt forget to lock my speed but put me on the regular plan. Any ways to check this by myself? Last year i had 5mbps for a few months but 5mbps is a premier plan so i wasnt worried.

Run the 3BB and TOT speedtest programs at 3BB Link and TOT Link at few times and see what speeds you get. While during the day you would probably get full speed of "whatever speed package" you are on you may not late in the evening/early night. But give them a try to see what speeds you get...this will give you another indication of what speed plan you are on.

From your description, it doesn't sound like you are on a 3Mb plan....proabably the only real way to find out is call 3BB and see what they say.

I doubt 3BB Premier puts you on different "outgoing lines"; they probably only put you on a lower "user/contention ratio" setting which means you may only be sharing bandwidth with 5 to 10 other users versus the 20-50 ration used for regular plans. But regardless of which method used, it ends up giving your more international speed. Even regular plans can pull some pretty good international speeds at times depending on the time of day/night, number of users online, and other factors.

When I had a problem with my 3bb premier 3gb/1 package in May this year it kept dropping out,So I got them to install a direct cable into my house instead of the telephone one witch is now separate from my internet. Now before they came and did this my speed was the 3Gb/1 but after they had finished and did there checks the speed was now the same as you get 7GB/630, so I asked them why and they said no problem we give you a upgrade same price. Now at the time it was working great full speed ahead until July when they changed me back to my 3Gb/1 without asking me and its been back to that up to now with no problems. In your router it is still premier but now back down to what it was before 3gb/1 so may be they will put you back later same as me. The 7gb/630 was working very well and now so is the 3gb/1.

Scotsman, You mean Mb (Megabits) and not Gb (Gigabits) or GB (Gigabytes) like the bandwidth of undersea fiber cables....boy, how I would love a Gigabit speed line running to my house for a couple thousand baht monthly cost...maybe then I would really get excellent speed to international websites/servers. ;) Cheers, Pib

im on the 7000kbps profile but i pay for 3mb premier.. but you never know i might have an uncapped premier wondering if theres was any way to see this (like if they put non-premier on interleave or similar thing)

OK, you're on the new Premier 7Mb plan but paying for the Premier 3Mb plan. ;)

You'll just going to have to call 3BB to hopefully find out for sure what plan your are on. Or, if you haven't got your first bill since moving you might want to wait and see what plan is listed on the bill. And I don't think you want to be paying for 3Mb premier if you are on the regular 7Mb plan which I expect is a lot cheaper and apparently working good for you. Good luck in what you find out.

Yes you are correct my mistake MB not GB I must have been thinking Ram memory ha ha. But to answer Thailand question I still got my usual bill for the 3MB/1 premier but as other have said you have to check with them if they have put you on a different package but I could not see a package that had 7Mb/630 in the 3bb list of packages so God knows what package they put us on. As i said i was only on the 7Mb one for about 3 weeks then it was back to the usual 3MB/1.

Ok so if you've been put on 7mbit instead of 3mbit for a few weeks, ill just let it go and see if i am getting the same thing. Maybe new connections get faster speed for a while to give them a 'taste' and its automatically sent back to the hamster wheel after certain time

One way to see if you are logging on to Premier, is to check your 3BB username. Premier accounts will have the word "premier" after the @ symbol -- at least my various Premier accounts in the past did.

I just changed to the 9Mbps non-Premier plan, and had to get a new username, without "premier" in the username.

I haven't looked at any of this for ages. As it was working I just left it alone - for 2 years now!!!!

I have the old 'Maxnet Premier Up To 2M' package for 1166.33 baht per month.

I used to be 'on top' of the router configuration, but have forgotten a lot of it and need some revision.

So could someone please remind me where I can check my username and password are still correct. I have the xxx.premier format for my username so it looks OK so far. I tried to log into the Maxnet Huawei router, but it threw me out. I may have to plug an ethernet cable straight into the router, I seem to recall I had problems going via the wifi link before.

So should I be able to log into the router with my username and password or is the router logon different. I used to login using and 'admin' username before according to my notes, but that seems incorrect now.

Thanks for your help, I am computer literate, worked in the computer industry developing software etc... all my life, so a techy answer would be great. I would go and talk to the 3bb technical support directly, but to be honest they are so rude and unhelpful I will only go that route if I really have to.

Thanks for your help.

Easy test: If you use your internet normally, and don't have any issues, you're on Premier.

If you experience severe slowdowns in the evening and at other random times, and if it sometimes plain doesn't work, you're on the normal line.

BTW there is no 7Mbit Premier, is there? All I see is 5Mbit on the website.

Thanks for the reply nikster.

Yes sounds about right. biggrin.gif

My link has been really good for some time now, no problems at all for months (a year maybe). I got out the documentation which says its the (up to) 2Mbit option. However, I then logged onto the 3BB website and registered with them. I could then see my account details and it says my account is now actually (up to) 3Mbit. The speedtests show its over 2 Mbit a lot of the time, so this sounds probable.

Like you say, there is only the 5 Mbit premier option on their website. The website only shows the new deals I guess. As I say, I have a 2Mbit contract for 1166 baht per month. However, that is now 3Mbit according to my online account details. Neither of these tariff options are shown on their website.

I was only really looking into all this to see if my deal with 3BB was reasonably priced nowadays. If the latest price for 5Mbit is 2500 baht per month, then I will stick with what I currently have! Its not only fast enough for what I need, but it WORKS!

Thanks for this. Good idea, but I now know I had it changed last year.

Last year there was a lightning strike here which took out the router. I took the router down to 3BB in Carrefour. They replaced it free of

charge and whilst I was there I got them to set it up to their 'old standard' login of admin/TTT. I only remember this now after reading the notes I wrote at the time. I had trouble before logging into the router because of the security on my network. I had to plug the ethernet cable directly into the router. I wont bother trying this as the link is working well and I have decided to keep it as is - hey why fiddle with something that is working wellbiggrin.gif

Thanks again for the feedback
