I'm a UK national and I'm up to date with my own visa requirements for visiting Australia and New Zealand. I've booked a cruise from Sydney in January and my Thai national gf is booked to go with me......I know she will have to apply for a tourist visa for her. Do they tend to be straightforward applications? or a nightmare?

I'm in the fortunate position that I can cancel the trip without much cost at the moment. I would be able to provide the authorities with the requisite booking numbers, cruise confirmation, hotel details etc. My Thai gf is degree educated and will be able to show proof of sufficient funds for her portion of the trip, and she will be flying into said countries under my flight booking number too, in effect a family member.
