I know back in US if a car gets flooded it often is called a "total" because of damage and smell, what happens here?

I was going to say it sounds like an act of God, but I am wondering if he has any official jurisdiction here (insurance wise of course).....

Seems like a fairly minor act compared with some he gets away with.
