I would like to pay for some extensive dental care for a Thai friend of mine. I would like the work to be adequately performed but not expensive. I wondered if the Chiang Mai dental school does work with grad students like the dental schools in the US do. Does anyone know anything about it?

yes.. Faculty of Dentistry, Chiang Mai University have both Dental Hosp and Special Dental Clinic

Yes they do but one would have to be a brave soul to let students do any extensive precedures even if overseen by a licensed DDS.
