Hello All,

6 months back me and my gf got a long awaited child.

I was wondering if and/or how it would be possible to extend my non-o visa on the grounds of our child.

We are not married.

I am the registered father on the birth certificate.

I was issued the 1 year multiple entry non-o visa based on my kid, just showed them the birth certificate and a copy of gf id card. (Visa issued in USA).

I am a Swedish citizen.

I own my own condo where we all live.

Are the requirements the same as marriage visa? Money in the bank etc.?

Any info is highly appreciated. :o

Regards

The requirement is that you support and (in most cases) have legal custody of the child.

You might have the 3 million baht investment option open to you with your condo if marriage or child support are not options.

Application for further stay for an alien father or mother to support children who are Thai Citizen

Required Documents

Immigration form 7

A copy of passport

A 4 cm. X 6 cm. Photograph

1,900 baht application fee

Evidence indicating the parental status; birth certificate or a judical Custody order of the child

Evidence presenting financial status:

Bank pass-book, bank statement certifying amount of money in the applicant's account, a certified documents of money transferring from oversea or evidence of income with related documents

A record of interviewing the applicant

The officials reserve the rights to examine or ask for additional documents if necessary

In most cases, the request will not be approved if the alien parents sponsor an adopted child who is a Thai citizen

Similar to marriage. 400k in bank or 40k/mth income.

Thank you for your replies Lopburi and seen all, learnt nothing.

Legal custody of the child, does that mean that the mother do not have any say in childs future or is it possible to have joint custody?

If so, how do one proceed?

Wher do I go and what documents to bring? I live in Pattaya.

As I can see the birth certificate doesn't seem to be enough - right?

Money in the bank/income is not a problem.

The 3 mil. condo option, tried once but seem to be a lot of hassle to obtain.

Any input most welcome.

You would go to Pattaya immigration and see what they want. They are normally not anxious to approve such visa extensions without a legal custody paper from what I understand; but normally the mother/father would not be living together so you could present your case.

Edh, this is a real tricky one. Its easy to get the 12 month multi non-imm o visa, but getting a yearly extension is quite difficult. When i enquired about this at Pattaya immigration i was told that i would have to go through the courts and get sole custody of the child and that the mother would have to be totally out of the picture.

Some posters on here have indicated that they intend to persue this path , but i am yet to see a succesfull outcome.

Thank you all for your valuable input.

Looks like it would be difficult to get an extension without marriage. :o

Will go down to immigration and ask them when I return from work.

Thanks again

Cheers
