Turn Off Tv Before Turning Off Ubc?

Featured Replies

We've had two different TVs and a few different UBC boxes, same problem.

One remote controls the UBC signal. Another controls the TV. If you switch off the UBC signal before switching off the TV, there's a loud explosion (literally) of static that comes out of the TV. If you switch off the TV first, then switch off UBC, silence.

There's gotta be a way around this!!

Does anyone else have the same problem?

ground the coax cable. best to attach a ground wire at the splitter box for the cable.

Get a Logitech remote to turn off the TV first, then the cable box with one button. :D :jap:

I've got two standard-issue TrueVisions boxes hooked up to two Philips TVs and I don't have the OP's problem. In fact, I've had five different standard-issue boxes over the last few years due to canceling/restarting subscriptions and one box being replaced due to video problems....none of those five boxes caused "turn-off" static noise problems whether I was on TrueVisions Satellite (DSTV) or TrueVisions Cable (CATV).

But as one poster mentioned, maybe it's a grounding problem although I expect your TV(s) and definitely the TrueVisions boxes only have a Line and Neutral (2 wire) power connection versus a 3 wire connection which includes the Safety ground. But at least you have already identified a work-around through turning off the TV first.
