Featured Replies

According to France’s Employment Minister, one of the causes of the French intifada is polygamy.

"Polygamy among immigrants is one cause of the rioting that has plagued France for the past two weeks, according to Gerard Larcher, the Employment Minister.

M Larcher was quoted as saying that large, polygamous families sometimes led to antisocial behaviour by youths who did not have a father figure in the home, making employers more cautious of hiring staff from ethnic minorities.

There are fears that M Larcher’s comments could further fuel the debate about the cause of the unrest and possibly outrage Muslim and anti-racism groups. Polygamy is banned in France, but an estimated 30,000 mainly African families have more than one wife."

The French left must be tearing their hair out on this one.

On one hand is the leftist/feminist belief that children don't need a father figure, and two women can raise a child just fine.

On the other hand is their stance against polygamy. :o

Can you feel the heat?

Churches torched in France during the riots. Here's a list and an update on the latest. And when they're not burning churches, they're burning their girlfriends :o

:D

Your ignorance on the matter has no limit  :D

So...enlighten us.

Give us the real story? :o

Normale sup'

Looks like the normal rate of car burning in France is going to be superior to the previous normal rate :o

Another social model that never really was

Johan Norberg discovers that the Swedish government measures unemployment differently than other countries. Sweden boasts of a 5.4% unemployment rate, but if they measured it the same way as the U.S., Australia, France, U.K. and others do, their true unemployment rate is 10.3% - Quite sneaky!! But not surprising... :o

How can someone discover something that is out in the open and public knowledge since a decade?

You're embarrassing yourself. If you had read anything else but blogs you'd know that this is common knowledge. It's been a constant criticism against the Social Democrats for over a decade just like TAWP says.

The Swedish social model worked quite well for several decades, but finally couldn't take the pressure after the unwise devaluations and the economic overheating in the late eighties. It's been going downhill ever since, and subsequent changes have been made to readjust Sweden towards capitalism, althought some relics of the old model still remain and cause a bit of trouble.

Your neocon ideas are not the answer to any kind of progress that most Swedish people want to see though, Boon Mee, rest assured of that. Bloggers such as Johan are blogging because they can't get anyone to listen to them back home (and to practice their English).

Sorry people :o

How come TAWP is in Bedlam, with only 119 posts? I know about some of the older members who have got it by invite but TAWP only joined in July :D

As you where :D

Well, no embarrassment here Meadish. Although it might be ‘common knowledge’ amongst Euros but I assure you, on this side of the pond, all we are subjected to from the liberal left-wing press is how wonderful the utopian economic social model y’all have is working.

With regard to so-called ‘neo-con’ ideas, if feeling uncomfortable with the ‘Nanny State’ makes me a ‘neo-con’, I’m chuffed! :o

Le Monde Calls America's Servicemen "Turkeys"

Taking advantage of the presidential custom of pardoning a turkey on Thanksgiving in his daily "Billet", Le Monde's Éric Fottorino calls America's servicemen in Iraq "turkeys" (or more precisely, Bush's "fall guys").

Needless to say, leftist moonbats of his ilk will protest that their anger against George W Bush's alleged cynicism (as the president's being surrounded by children is meant to imply) amount to support for the poor servicemen in question, but given that Dubya enjoys some 80% of support in the armed forces, it is clear that (unless they express support for Bush's opponents) they are turkeys in any case. :o

It is still ok, only not as good as it used to be. You should go some time and have a look for yourself.

Norway is a good deal more expensive than Sweden. In fact, these days Italy is more expensive than Sweden.

As if three weeks of rioting by Muslim youths wasn’t enough evidence, a new study by the Center for Intelligence Research in Paris shows that France is in big trouble: Fundamentalism in French Workplace.

"PARIS — Employees set up clandestine prayer areas on the grounds of the Euro Disney resort.

Workers for a cargo firm at Charles de Gaulle airport praise the Sept. 11 attacks.

A Brinks technician is charged with pulling off a million-dollar heist for a Moroccan terrorist group allegedly led by his brother. Female converts to Islam operate a day-care center that authorities eventually shut down because of its religious radicalism."
