hey guys - my flight gets to bangkok on monday 31st oct at 6pm and i am hoping to get the airport link and get to victory monumnet and then get a white knuckle ride on the mini vans

does anyone know the following?

1 - are the mini vans running from victory monument at the moment?

2 - what time does the last one one leave in the evening?

3 - from what stand / area of victory monument do they leave? we usually get the mini vans from directly under the BTS station @ 180B, but if i remember right they finish at 7pm and i dont think i can get there from swampy for 7pm

any tips guys / i dont really want to fork out for a taxi, unless someone wants to share??

My missus came back from Issan last week. She had intended to take a bus from her town to Mo Chit and then a minivan from there to Hua Hin. She called and the minivans from Mo Chit were not running because of the floods. Don't know about Victory Monument, but the flooding is worse now in Bangkok. She ended up taking a bus to Korat and another bus from there to Hua Hin. She said the buses ran through water that cars (or vans) could not attempt.

Someone else will hopefully give you current information, but the last time I took one from Victory Monument (a couple of years ago) the last one left at 6 p.m. and the van starting point was beside the shopping mall on the right side of and behind the circle as you come down off the BTS (from the VM station).

My friend took a minivan from BKK to Hua Hin last Sunday and back again the other way on Monday to the Victory Monument and it was all OK at that time...could have changed though.

Last time I came back from BKK a few months ago, I took the very last minivan which was about 11pm, I think it really was the last one. I'm pretty sure they go on way past 7pm, probably until at least 9.30 or 10 but I couldn't say definitively.

Seems to be about 3 places now where you can catch the minivans - right at the traffic circle behind all the dozens of stalls, then another place further up the main road near the hospital, then still further up a few hundred yards just before you get to a big shopping centre. I never know which one to use, it's usually just random! :-)

Oh and I should add that I need to use the minivan this Friday or Saturday from HH to Victory Monument, and then get to Nonthburi - no idea how to do that...my friend says where she lives there is no flood, so we will see. And then I'm heading to the airport to fly to Udon Thani...(Suvarnabhumi not DM thankfully). I'll report back next week what happens as I guess there could be lots of delays, water, and everything else!. happy days

There are a number of minibus companies running out of Victory Monument...I find the easiest and best one to go with is just before The Girl Guides building there on the side soi ...They basically go when they are full so you just buy your 180 ticket and hopefully it fills up quick..With a good run about 2/12 hours to 3 hours depending on traffic of course..usually the getting in and out of Bangkok!
