November 11, 201114 yr Hello, I just telephoned Krungthep Krita golf course to enquire about their membership fees and was told that they only allow Thai members. This seems pretty racist, is this standard practise for golf courses in Thailand? Seeing as I am not allowed to join Krungthep Krita, does anyone know of a club in the Bangkok vicinity (Eastern side preferable) which has reasonably priced annual membership? Thanks.
November 11, 201114 yr Yes that is out of order, I am sure there are still golf clubs in the UK that bar women from certain areas of the club house so this sort of thing goes on all over the world, you could always come to Phuket and pay over 1 million bht for club membership, I love golf and do not play here any more due to the stupid prices, good luck in finding a club!!

Really? I would be surprised if there were, are there not laws against discrimination in the uk these days?

November 11, 201114 yr It is very common around asia to have higher membership price for foreign members. Maybe some quota thing again who know. So anyone with any recommendations on reasonable places in eastern side of Bangkok?

November 14, 201114 yr FWIW, I can actually understand Thai's not wanting to be around farang on the golf course. If they can afford to be exclusive, I'd understand them wanting to do so. Farang have different etiquette and things on the course.. Maybe they just want a place where they can 'be Thai'.
November 14, 201114 yr Play at the local Army Barracks and membership is open to non Thai's, its only a 9 hole course but in good nick. Visitors always welcome and never any probs with security, ie getting on the base, which surprises (try that in a UK military base!). We all get on with the Thais, many high ranking Army officers, Doctors, Lawyers, business men and the city's chief cop play (useful). Best day of the year is the annual caddy day - Its Battle Horse Golf Club in Phetchabun city Battle Horse Barracks.
