Seeking Rental Apt/condo W/ Japanese Furnishings?

Featured Replies

perhaps a long shot but worth asking nevertheless... i am looking to find an apartment/condo for long-term rental (6 months, 1 year) in Bangkok in the next couple of months, preferably somewhere around the Sathorn/Silom area but would consider any nice place that wasn't too far flung...

my wife is japanese, and it would be most welcome to find a rental property that came pre-furnished in tradtional japanese style (or a reasonable facsimile of!)... low tables and tatami mats over nice wooden floors already in proper place would be very a welcome find for us; decent television and/or stereo in place would also be a perk. a nice patio, terrace or garden area would also be very nice to find.

i'm hoping to find somewhere at or under the price of 70,000bht monthly w/ the signing of a lease, and availability of high-speed internet is a *must-have*.

any pointers or input would be most welcome, thx in advance and a wonderful weekend to all..!

Maybe not such a long shot as you would imagine. While I wasn't looking for something similar, I did do a pretty exhaustive apartment search back in June [Primarily in the Sukh. soi 39 to Thong Lor area] and saw several that came very close.

I'm not sure about the area you are interested in, but I can say that where I was looking has a very sizeable Japanese population. I just bid farewell to two friends who visited me from the States and I was quite impressed by the amount of Internet research the Japanese wife had pulled off of the Internet prior to their visiting. You might want to nudge your wife and get her to do some searching through the Japanese language sites devoted to Thailand- that might get you better results than a search on the English language side of things.

That said, in my travels for an appt. i came accross a couple of good URLs for Japanese realtors here. I seem to have only one, and i never used the company, but it might be worth an inquiry.

Hi. I myself is Japanese and I have seen so many condos in Bangkok that are on the listings of the Japanese realtor but never seen or even heard of a condo with "Japanese style furnishings". Are you talking about "washitsu" room with tatami mat and sliding fusuma door? I don't think there is a demand for those rooms anymore and they are hard to find even in Japan (well at least with new condos).
