How To Get To Koh Phangan

I am planning to go to the 14 January fullmoon party at Koh Phangan. I will be going from Phuket. Can anyone tell me which is the best way to go. I can also use information on accomodation when at Koh Phangan.

Go for the night and dont sleep is best bet

Get a fast boat out in the morning before the riff raff wake up.

really .. i heard the diff . way .. I went to Koh Samui , its pretty expensive

but i heard at Pha Ngan is cheap ..(i have never been there)

and also heard some beaches at Koh Pha ngan are lovely

i will go there one day

Yes you can get a bed with big hole in the middle of the matress for 800 baht

Yes you can have ugly room.

If you are wasted and dont notice all cool

but the place is geared towards people who are too trashed to care.

That may be a bit too much of a generalisation but....

use the party boat 5pm and be back 8 am next morning

don't take anything with cause you will even lose it include you gf

have fun and use condoms but stay away of what looks far like drugs

if looking for somewhere to stay, get off the boat and ask to get a ride to copa, out the way of the idiots and a really swell place to stay...enjoy, and if want something different, try up north, good places to dive and better scenery..

Haadrin is expensive, if you stay outside of Haadrin the prices drop. If you are only staying for one night then you won't be able to find a place to stay. I don't really recommend staying in Samui and taking the speedboat as it can be dangerous, the boats are full of drunk people and running in the dark.

Ban Kai or Ban Tai are better areas to stay then Haadrin, the taxis run all night and transportation down and back are no problem.

Take a minibus from Phuket or fly to Samui (fast but expensive). A travel agent in Phuket can book everything for you, bus & boat.

that is not true in the least- Samui is much more overpriced than Phangan... just don't stay in Had Rin (not sure why anyone would want to anyway).

sorry but wrong again, there is a lot of really good value on Phangan, and not everyone is a trashed out druggie. again, get out of Had Rin.

agree than Ban Tai/Kai are better to stay in than Had Rin, but you can stay at pretty much any beach on the island and still get to the full moon party easily.

I went from Ko Samui by ferry, really easy. I stayed in Thong sala, its about a 1/2 taxi ride from the full moon party but it cost me $7 a night in a hut on the beach, depends though if you like sleeping under a mossie net on a mattress?

I loved it had my own beach, pretty laid back.

You can stay at Al's cafe on Thong Sala its air conditioned and really clean for about 600 bht a night

Well the point is you expect Value for money.

I had the misfortune of staying here for a prepaid three night pkg.

The place is run down

Our room was meant to be a suite.

We checked in and the bathroom smelt.

The missus complained (in thai) and got the usual blank stare.

It was full moon so it was no other room avail.

I went down the road to buy air fresh ,bleah etc.

Came back...and the missus had used the loo and it had overflowed......

Great start.

It got worse before it got better.

It only got better after the Missus had a serious Tantrum in Thai to someone who owned up eventualy to being in charge.

I spent three hours drinving around in a dusty truck looking for another room,with no luck

Its fine for backbackers and beach sleepers etc,but for this Snob ,I would never go back.

I wont go into what was going on in the pool the morning after the party ,only to say some fat pommy slappers got lucky,and squealed away like stuck pigs all morning.

Yes, but if you are foolish enough to expect a room the day of the party then you get what is left. Hadrin fills up at least a week before the party starts and all that would be left are the rejects.

Perhaps if you had shown up at a reasonable date you would have found something more to your liking. But to tar the entire island as expensive and dirty because you had one bad experience at one hotel is just sheer silliness.
