Would A Thousand Us Dollar Ice Cream Sundae Sell In Thailand?

I think it would.

And I want one! (Want as opposed to willingness to pay for it.)

What do you get for your thousand bucks? Tahitian vanilla bean ice cream infused with Madagascar vanilla that is covered in 23-karat edible gold leaf, drizzled in “the most expensive chocolate in the world” (Amedei Porcelana), with chunks of Chuao chocolate, topped with caviar and infused with fresh orange, passion fruit and Armagnac. Instead of jimmies you get truffles, gold-dipped French dragees (that’s Jordan almonds to you and me) and marzipan fruits.

BTW, going on typical restaurant food cost percentages of 35 percent, you theoretically could make that at home for a mere 350 dollars ...

A few years ago, wasn't there a USD 25k a plate dinner in Bangkok? I think the funds went to a charity. With the right promotion/marketing I bet it would be a hit for a charity.

Exactly what I thought which is why I brought it up as a Thai topic. I think such shameless conspicuous consumption would actually be more viable in today's Thailand than in the USA these days, and we all know the concept of "guilt" is alien here.
