Bush's Mad Plans To Bomb

Aljazeera TV In Qatar

There were calls for Downing Street to publish the transcript of a conversation between Tony Blair and US President George Bush, amid claims that the Prime Minister persuaded Mr Bush not to launch a military strike on a TV station in a friendly Arab state.

According to unnamed sources quoted in the Daily Mirror, the memo - stamped Top Secret - records Mr Bush suggesting that he might order the bombing of Al-Jazeera's studios in Qatar.

'Blair talked Bush out of bombing'

And it allegedly details how Mr Blair argued against an attack on the station's buildings in the business district of Doha, the capital city of Qatar, which is a key ally of the West in the Persian Gulf.

Al-Jazeera had sparked the anger of the US administration by broadcasting video messages from al Qaida head Osama bin Laden and leaders of the insurgency in Iraq, as well as showing footage of the bodies of US servicemen and Iraqi civilians killed in fighting.

According to the Mirror's source, the transcript records a conversation during Mr Blair's visit to the White House on April 16 last year, in the wake of a failed attempt to root out insurgents in the city of Fallujah, in which 30 US Marines died.

A spokesman for 10 Downing Street refused to discuss the leaked memo.

But former defence minister Peter Kilfoyle - a leading Labour opponent of the Iraq War - called for the document to be made public.

"I believe that Downing Street ought to publish this memo in the interests of transparency, given that much of the detail appears to be in the public domain," he told the Press Association.

"I think they ought to clarify what exactly happened on this occasion. If it was the case that President Bush wanted to bomb al-Jazeera in what is after all a friendly country, it speaks volumes and it raises questions about subsequent attacks that took place on the press that wasn't embedded with coalition forces."

Liberal Democrat foreign affairs spokesman Sir Menzies Campbell told PA: "If true, then this underlines the desperation of the Bush administration as events in Iraq began to spiral out of control. On this occasion, the Prime Minister may have been successful in averting political disaster, but it shows how dangerous his relationship with President Bush has been."

Humanitarian lawyer suing the American government for crimes against humanity.

Charges include murdering medical personnel, attacking ambulances, and destroying hospitals in Fallujah.

All against the Geneva convention. Add to that depleted uranium and white phosphorus and it's looking like America is becoming worse than Nazi Germany.

great! shows how much you really care about the worlds situation. The man is more unstable by the day, wants to blow everything/everyone up and you talk about Christmas card lists.

Oh Boon, you poor old fool!

So, Dubya wants to blow up Aljazeera, right?

What's the problem? :D

Rumor around DC is that Bush is back into the alcohol. It would make sense in explaining his increasingly erratic behavior (and all those tumbles he's been taking in the past few months).

This is RICH coming from you, sbk, who chastized me for not using alleged when talking about George Galloway being brought up on charges! :o

its apparently o'doul's non-alcoholic beer ( 0.5% )

Another Gaelic Starover reader posts his or her own experiences with "non-alcoholic" beer:

"As a recovering alchoholic, I can tell you that I got drunk as a skunk on one (1) 'non-alchoholic' beer about 10 years ago. I had been sober six years when those little green bottles came out and I decided to try one with a pizza. Whoops! Alchoholism progresses whether one is drinking or not, making one more sensitive and less tolerant of any effects. Might explain why Bush has aged so much.

BTW, my son tells me that the side to side motions of Bush's jaw during the NOLA pitch are indicative of some kind of upper."

maybe his miders gave him some amphetimines when they realised he was smashed... :o

Everyhere talks about sources and taking things with a grain of salt, yet everybody seems so quick to believe the first thing they read. So, I guess members like Tornado and Boon Mee must have a direct link with Bush's brain so they know what's going on. I guess the only problem is one got the left side and the other the right.

Aljazeera TV In Qatar? Shame it didnt happen - I doubt many would grumble too much for the mouth piece of terrorists being eliminated.

However I'm sure it would be much easier for yanks to jam its signal than drop a bomb on it - if they really chose to do such a thing.

Al-Jazeera threat reports 'censored'

From correspondents in London

November 23, 2005

NEWSPAPERS reported today the British Government has threatened to prosecute them if they publish a leaked document alleging US President George W. Bush threatened to bomb al-Jazeera TV.

The Daily Mirror said yesterday that Bush talked of bombing al-Jazeera's headquarters in the Gulf Arab state of Qatar when he hosted talks with Blair in Washington on April 16, 2004.

The White House - which has accused al-Jazeera of being a mouthpiece of anti-US sentiments by airing statements from al-Qaeda leaders and footage of hostage beheadings in Iraq - dismissed the newspaper report as "outlandish."

The Daily Mirror said today that Attorney General Peter Goldsmith warned the newspaper on yesterday that publication of any further details from the document would be a breach of the Official Secrets Act.

Goldsmith threatened an immediate High Court injunction unless the Mirror confirmed it would not publish further details. "We have essentially agreed to comply," the newspaper said.

Both The Guardian and The Times published similar articles saying newspaper editors could be prosecuted if they revealed contents of the document.

The secrets act makes it an offence to possess of government information, or a document from a civil servant, if that person discloses it without lawful authority.

The Mirror said the memo turned up in the office of then British lawmaker Tony Clarke, a member of Blair's Labour Party, in May 2004.

Civil servant David Keogh, 49, is accused under the secrets act of handing it to Clarke's former researcher Leo O'Connor, 42. Both are to appear at Bow Street Magistrates Court in London next week.

Clarke returned the memo to Blair's office. He said O'Connor had behaved "pefectly correctly".

Newspapers said the government obtained court injuctions against them before, but it has never prosecuted editors for publishing the contents of leaked documents.

You got to be joking?

yep. That or he is a dry drunk from all those years of abuse. The poor guy should be at the local bar getting drunk, not at the WH

Bush is on the piss yet again, my mate told me.

The very fact he wanted to bomb Al Jazeera, rumor or not, will reach the TV station and they will make a big thing of it and the damage done will end up being as bad as if Bush had bombed it anyway.

Either way, we're all doomed so I better have sex with this slightly older magnificant woman, and soon!

After watching a few beheading videos courtesy of these bastards then you'd see why. :o

Ahem, first word of the sentence? Or should I have said, "the alleged rumor"?

:o

Why dont we have a Bush bashing forum ?

Oh , we do .

Ok , I get it . If you agree then its NOT boring and should litter the forum on a daily basis .

Seen them. What is your point?

(I'm sure you already know that they are available on many-many sites.)

And AFAIK Al Jazeera has never shown any beheadings. Only videos of Usama Bin Laden and his goonies speeches.

So...what is it your are against?

(By bombing Al Jazeera you would be doing several goverments in the middle east a favour, since they (Al. J.) are openly critical of most governments and have talkshows where people of different opinions can voice them. Something unheard of before in many countries. And still are ofcourse, since the channel is banned in many countries...so people have to get it via satelite. But I'm sure you knew all this...)

We've had this discussion before. If you dont' like it, don't read it. If you want something different then stop complaining and start your own topic.

Yeah, Scampy, you better hurry up with Madam Mao plans, because I wouldn't be surprised if China is next on the List soon... :o
