Hi, we will be entering Thailand on the 24th of January from the UK. We are then going on a tour of Cambodia on the 28th of Jan, returning to Thailand on the 11th of Feb.

Once back in Thailand we have proof of leaving the country (well, a flight out of Singapore) on the 28th of Feb, which is within the 30 day time-scale. As we originally entered the country on the 24th of Jan however, this means that when we first arrive our outward flight is just outside the 30 day limit.

Does this mean we wil have to apply for a tourist visa or will we be ok as we are entering and re-entering the country??

Yes you really need a tourist visa otherwise you may be refused boarding in your home country.

Only question is will you need a single entry or double entry tourist visa.

When you return to Thailand from Cambodia will you be flying in or overland?

If you are coming back in overland then a single tourist visa would suffice to cover your initial entry on 24th Jan when you come back in overland an outward bound ticket out of Thailand is almost never asked for.

If you are coming back from Cambodia by air then you have 2 choices,

1. Get a double entry tourist visa before leaving home.....this will cover your second entry from Cambodia.......or boarding may be refused.

2. Purchase a ticket down to Singapore before you re-enter from Cambodia......this will also cover your second entry from Cambodia .

Problem is your flight out of Singapore means nothing to Thai Immigration or your carrier they want to see an outward bound ticket from Thailand.

Who sayz? Airport/airline authorities know that for stays under 30 days a visa-on-arrival is sufficient. Just tell them. No proof required (unless your name ends on 'Bin Laden').

Again, if you enter Thailand on the 24th, you get another 30 days visa which will be fine until you leave on the 28th. Again, no proof required.

No need to apply for visas at all!

Except the poster is staying for over 30 days (24th Jan to 28th Feb) as far as the check in desk is concerned.................if he has a flight ticket already to Cambodia then thats a different story .

Take my word for it if he has no onward ticket within the first 30 days stay he runs the risk of being refused boarding in the UK.

Oh by the way...........sayz me :o

And right you are. The airline wants to see a ticket out of Thailand within

30 days. And no, claiming to leave by bus or train is not within the rules.

Some might be too busy to check for a visa but why take the risk of denied boarding?
