Nokia helps enhance developers' skill in upcountry by organizing "Nokia Developer Days" starting in Chiang Mai and Khon Kaen.

Aiming at new developers and university students, the project provides opportunities for participants to learn more about application development using Qt Quick, Series 40 Java, Series 40 Web Apps as well as get to know Windows Phone technology. Importantly, participants will learn about marketing through social media to promote apps and create revenues.

Mr. Grant McBeath, Managing Director, Nokia Thailand and Emerging Asia, said, "Nokia sees the potential of developers in Thailand. A lot of them locate in upcountry e.g., Jimmy Software in Chiang Mai, and Human Tech in Khon Kaen, as well as in universities. As a result, Nokia works with these developers to enhance competitiveness of developers in upcountry through "Nokia Developer Days". The project aims to ignite new ideas among developers to create great applications for Thai users as well as able to compete in the world market. This will at the end strengthen mobile communications ecosystem in Thailand and bring revenues to the country through the creative economy."

Earlier, Nokia has organized Tap That App program to enhance competitiveness of developers in universities comprising Chiang Mai University, which also supported Nokia Developer Days in Chiang Mai, Assumption University, Rangsit University, Chulalongkorn University, and King Mongkut's Technology Institute Ladkrabang. A lot of students who joined the program were able to develop applications for Nokia users worldwide to download via Nokia Store.
