Very Long Audio/Video Cable? (Red/White/Yellow)

Featured Replies

I really just need the audio cable part (red/white). The AJ dvd/mp4 player will be inside with one set of speakers, i plan to have a separate set of speakers outside which will require about 15 meters of cord (20 would be safe). Preferably female to male but I could make do with male to male.

Also, is there also a splitter for these types of things? I would like to take one audio source (1 red/white output port) and connect 2-3 different sets of speakers. It's not studio quality. I'll have one small set of speakers outside and other set of speakers inside.

I checked Tesco, max 1.8 meters. I checked a computer/audio shop downstairs and they had 5m cable max. They seemed to have something longer, but just cable, not the endpoints. Are their specialty stores that do this? I'm in Chumphon Town. Maybe I'd have to order online? Not sure when I'll be in bangkok again.

Just buy the long cable and get someone to solder four RCA plugs onto the ends.

Normally, if you want cables that long, you will have to make up your own. We have a shop here in Phitsanulok that has the cable in bulk and sells the terminators separately. They sell all kinds of parts, terminators and splitters. You must have such a shop there somewhere. Just ask around for a shop that sells electronic parts until you find it.

Also, don't forget that with such a long run, you need a very heavy duty cable -- the heavier guage the better. The smaller the cable the greater the loss over long runs.

If you do not have the skill to make up the cable (soldering, etc.), I would suggest buying the cable and the terminators you need and taking to to one of the many car stereo shops around. They should be able to make up the cable to your specs, if you supply all the parts.

Also try to get oxygen free copper cable.

For a long cable you do have to watch the quality

or you may well be disappointed
